Sterling - I would still like to help you if you are interested, as that is always my one and only goal for my patients. In fact, I would offer you a free consult to review any recent labs you may have (since we last spoke in 2013) to see if there are options for us to consider. I feel strongly now (as I did then) that the long history of finasteride use is the bulk of the problem...thankfully we have options to help but would require discontinuing the oral finasteride amongst some other considerations (the topical options are great). Contact our office if you would like to set up a time to talk. If you do not have any recent (within 3 month) labs, we can suggest the labs you should have drawn.

I am mistaken about the dosage you prescribed and please accept my apologies. After reading your post, I searched and found the original bottle and you're correct. The dosage prescribed was 0.5mg twice a week. I have in more recent posts acknowledged that I needed to confirm my stance on the subject of the AI as prescribed. I did not mean to question your professionalism or experience otherwise I would not have followed the protocol as prescribed and followed up via email with my concerns. This was information added to a subject (hypochondriacal behavior) which was the purpose for my original post.

I appreciate and wholeheartedly agree with your need to respond and share with those of us who are here to learn. I was seeking some input from others and acknowledge my mistake and bad memory concerning the AI. Again, I was in no way taking aim at you or Defy. I have since been in contact with Dr. Crisler, now consulting with Defy, but have not yet made a decision about restarting TRT. I'm a novice about all of this TRT stuff and I'm simply trying to figure out where I go from here as I'm not wanting to remain where I am now.

No worries, Sterling. I would consider (in most cases) a doctor prescribing anastrozole 1mg DAILY for a male patient to be borderline malpractice. My most pressing concern was if the pharmacy made an error and actually dispensed that amount to you, which thankfully you have confirmed they did not. My offer for a free consult for you will stand. Dr Crisler would also be happy to work with you. Either way you will be in good hands should you decide to embark on the journey of TRT again. In a sense, this time around would be a fresh start as last time we were initially trying to backtrack and correct some of the mistakes of your previous physician. Happy New Year to all!

Sterling, it comes down to whats more important, your quality of life or a great head of hair and it seems like your more interested in dialing in your hair meds than your TRT meds. I'd love to have some of my hair back but I wouldn't trade it for the shape I'm in at 49, I get far more compliments on my psyique then I ever would have on my hair, and if your concerned about your health it should be clear which sacrifice to make.

As an aside, I currently have a patient who requires Anastrazole at 1mg per day. He is an alcoholic, and liver stress shunts androstenedione directly to estrogen, instead of testosterone. The alcohol also ramps up his aromatase enzyme, so he converts more T to E on top of that. I've had maybe 2 or 3 others at such a high dose over the many years of practice. So, dosages that high are only very rarely necessary.
