My vitamin D requirements have doubled as I improved my health, lowered my A1C and lost weight, why is that the case?

My parathyroid hormone level is low normal so it seems I’m just super sensitive to vitamin D and can’t handle anything approaching 30. On a sidenote, it seems my high sodium diet for the last three weeks has caused a calcium problem on top of the carnivore diet having virtually no calcium in it.

I supplement the calcium for a day and seem to have mostly recovered. The muscle spasms and cramps were very intense and painful. I even got rashes and hives. I remember eating six eggs for lunch one day and then I started getting hives minutes later, because the high sodium intake causes you to lose calcium.

i wonder if the vitamin D increased absorption of jatenzo as often happens with PED users there dicks stop working too dipsite huge amounts of test.

or perhaps jatenzo was affecting liver function which of course affects ferritin vitamin D etc aswell. there are other things going on that we cant test for either.

anyway, glad u figured it out was alot to do with jatenzo! thought i asked that but matters little!

No I found out I had low calcium. When you increase vitamin D in the presents of low calcium, parathyroid increases causing the bone pain and all other symptoms. I'm taking 3000 IU D3 without issue.

I'm also suffering from hypotension (103/72, too low for me) and my doctor doesn't believe I need blood pressure medicine anymore. The burning, pricking, feeling faint, lightheadedness symptoms are from low blood pressure.

After all those blood donations, reducing my ferritin to below 50, my blood pressure dropped.

I took 5000 IU D3 yesterday and felt amazing, but I had to supplement calcium or those symptoms reappear.

I don't even need magnesium or vitamin K, adding any of these causes problems.

I've reached a steady state on Jatenzo this morning and boy do I feel it!

Now that I've weaned off my beta-blocker I can't tolerate 600 IU D3. It's causing an inflammatory response, painful stomach cramping, excess urination, swelling red fingertips near the fingernail.

This occurs within minutes of taking the vitamin D powder form. The liquid caps cause yellow bruises all over my legs above 400 IU. I can't tolerate any amount of vitamin C supplement (90 mg) either without feeling extremely high.

It's like I've become a hyper responder to many different things all of a sudden.

Now that I’m off TRT and my natural system is producing its own testosterone again a week after stopping (labs coming), I’m suspected to have vitamin D deficiency again based on the symptoms. I also have low lymphocyte counts put me at risk for infection. I have been having sneezing spells a lot lately.

My red blood cell count is at the higher end still and hemoglobin is 17 and hematocrit is 50.1%.

I still can’t tolerate 600 IU vitamin D3, I feel high and nauseated and lots of abdominal and leg cramping. I cannot tolerate foods fortified with vitamin D, only a natural amount in food.

I’ve been drinking raw milk and eggs for my vitamin D and no issues. I seem to have an extreme sensitivity to salt which started after my third blood donation.

My liver and kidney tests are excellent.

Random glucose 116.

Total T = incoming.

My vitamin D levels are at 24 and I’m taking 1800 units of vitamin D3 and I never felt better! 600 units of vitamin D used to get me a vitamin level of 26.

I don’t understand why my vitamin levels are so low. If I take more vitamin D, I get hyperthyroid symptoms, abdominal cramping, generally feeling unwell and fatigue/sleepiness.

My finger and toes burn intensely on and off and hurt to the point where it’s difficult to touch things. It feels like I trim my fingernails too short, that type of pain, but way more intense.

I do feel surprisingly well, in fact I'm still feeling improvements which is confusing to me.

My endocrinologist thinks this is at the kidney level and possibly hyperthyroidism might be driving the excess absorption of nutrients causing my kidneys to dump it. I'll eat a lot of steak and then suddenly the urge to urinate is intense and feels like my body is trying to get rid of something quickly, like diarrhea but just the urination part of it, like my kidneys are in overdrive.

I remember an ER doctor saying my kidneys are unusually strong, maybe a bit too much.

My TSH has been on a downward trajectory since I started TRT. It’s last measurement was 0.45.

Well, I’m vitamin K deficient. I’ve been supplementing 100 mcg vitamin K for over a month and my vitamin D is 24 while supplementing 1800 IU D3. If I supplement any more vitamin D or vitamin K, I start getting severe abdominal cramping, weakness, or hyperthyroid symptoms.

100 mcg vitamin K used to get me midrange levels. I had been taking magnesium which I discovered was causing a lot of my issues these past few weeks, saymptomsthat are mostly gone now that I stopped about 6 days ago.

The last five days I started feeling significantly better, more energy, better mental clarity, which make these lab tests even more confusing. Maybe the excess magnesium has a role in the lower vitamin D and vitamin K

I’m more functional mentally and physically than I’ve been in decades.

Vit D
Levels in the 20's and 30's means you are deficient. Low D causes rickets. Some of your symptoms are similar to rickets. It's why foods are fortified with D, though most are processed foods and people focused on health avoid processed foods. Many functional medicine specialists recommend D levels in the 50-60 range. I have a genetic varient that affects Vit D processing. After 4 years of experimentation, I found it takes me 10,000IU/day to each 50-60 range. Vit D toxicity is rare btw, though many taught concerns when taking high dosage. I found a research paper on toxicity. It mentioned repeated dosing in the 100,000-250,000 IU range. In many cases due to improperly labeled vials. Body will return to normal once stopped.

Iron...
You didn't mention a lot about your iron levels (total, Ferritin, TIBC, %saturation). I've never heard of a man supplementing iron. Iron is never included in mens multivitamins. It's an oxident and hard on the body. Women naturally release iron during menstruation. Men can only eliminate thru blood donation or chelation. Iron overload can lead to symptoms you mentioned.

Muscle Cramps
Usually caused by low potassium (K). RDA for K is 4300 mg/day. That is 10 medium size sweet potatoes or bananas. Many get no where near the RDA. Search for Linus Pauling Institute Vit K (or any mineral) for information. I add 1 scoop of Keto electrolyte powder to 18 oz. of water/day. Just be cautious with K if you have kidney issues. That is why max dosage of K in supplements is 99 mg.

Muscle Spasms (legs, eyelids, etc)
Usually caused by low Mg.

This based on my personal experience and research addressing my own health issues. ‍♂️

My ferritin is over 200, iron saturation in the 35 range. I can’t tolerate vitamin D levels over 25, not without symptoms. Deficiency is never about the absolute level. It’s about how sensitive you are to a vitamin or hormone that determines deficiency.
