My 12 year old son

Serious question about my son. Does anyone know at what age you should start to check or be concerned about their hormonal development? From the time he was born he always appeared to be very underdeveloped in the genitalia department. Very small testicles and penis. I remember changing my little nephews diaper when my son was 10 and thinking that even this baby has larger genitalia than my 10 year old son. Even now wearing tight underwear and running around the house, it is very hard to discern any type of "package". I know that puberty can bring about many changes, but I do not want him to be the boy that gets made fun of or has no confidence if it is a simple matter of needing to get things jump started.

Not trying to sound shallow, but if there is something that needs addressed then I want to. If it is just who he is, then that is fine too. Thanks

This is a discussion for a Pediatric Endocrinologist who specializes in hormone and growth development.

These are not just your run of the mill Endos, you need a specialist in this field who can conduct the proper tests and make an evaluation.

Good advice Gene.
Getting Answers - make sure you stress to him the psychological / self esteem challenges your son may face, as if it's not what they consider medically necessary, they may dismiss it.

Has your son gone through puberty yet? Have you asked him? You may want to take him to an urologist (I really do not care for endos) who specializes in delayed puberty. Some boys do well on a cycle of HCG just to jump start their axis. Some may also have undescended testicles and even gonadal defects and diseases e.g. Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome.

Can HCG make your penis grow?
