For Those That Get Headaches on TRT

Apparently, you haven't experienced yet a degenerative condition associated with aging, that contemporary medicine has no clue how to cure, it just "treats" it. When that happens, you belief in the "medical literature" will quickly evaporate.

So not to derail that thread, please tell us, what is "out there" that we can't find with Google, which explains the OP headaches. Find the root cause according to the "research" and save us the neurology hand-waving nonsense that his "nerve endings are just too sensitive", clearly tied to migraine drugs that just cover up the symptoms, not identifying the true cause and clearly not curing or understanding anything.
Here's the problem with forums. You know nothing about the OP other than what he chose to tell you. Part of what he chose to tell you is that he's had headaches all of his life. What in the world does it have to do with testosterone? You know nothing about any work up that he's had. Has he had an extensive work up or has he just seen one probably bad neurologist? We know nothing about the details of his past medical history other than he has a history of headaches. So the point is, is that it takes a lot of detailed analysis to formulate a differential diagnosis and then you work from there. You can't do that from a simple post on a forum. And in case you don't realize this there is no cure for aging and the degenerative conditions that go along with it.
But in a simple nutshell if he finds that injecting testosterone triggers a headache (headaches he has had his whole life) then don't inject testosterone. Use another delivery method. But what I also find interesting is that what triggered his headaches that he's had all his life before he started testosterone? Why does it have to be E2 or the ester? What caused it before that? Here we are trying to blame testosterone or hormonal on something that he's had his whole life before he ever started testosterone. From his post it also doesn't appear that it happens all the time. Is it an association or is it true causation?

And my point is that if you go with simple headache/migraine to any neurologist, 9 times out of 10 you will be given a pseudo theory and prescribed a pill, which will not explain or cure anything and will not be better than the explanations given on this forum, which admittedly are often questionable.

So claiming that "the medical information is out there in the specialized studies" but we or the doctors can't find it because we are too lazy and it "requires dedication" simply means you are not actually aware of the limitations of contemporary medicine. Forums like this exist because medicine has failed. Not to speak about forums for Chronic Fatigue etc.

For several years already I am in the trenches dealing with symptoms that contemporary medicine cannot explain, including headaches that are triggered by the digestive tract. Trust me when I say this, the information is NOT out there in the medical literature. There are drugs that can cause headaches for example PPI and medicine has NO CLUE of the underlying mechanism.

Super old thread but i am having the same issues. Specifically within an hour or two of injecting regardless of dose or frequency. Get a sharp headache in my forehead and sinuses and feels like those muscles tense up and can't be relaxed. Never happens with HCG though and spent significant time on HCG mono. Pregnyl HCG uses a different preservative.

Can the preservatives "chlorobutanol" or "benzyl benzoate" cause this? I get a major headache consuming anything with the preservative "sodium benzoate". Unsure of possible relation.

OP ever get any answers? Or anyone deal with this and find cause"

Thanks

Same as Nelson, I get headaches from increases in blood pressure and nothing else.

In my opinion and experience (many will disagree, it's a very contentious subject), increases in blood pressure are due to elevated Estradiol levels; when E2 is controlled I get no increase in BP regardless of Free T levels.

I had this problem and I was able to figure it out for myself. I wasn't eating sodium frequently enough. Once I started eating pickles and focusing on sodium I felt night and day better
This. I had to come off TRT a year ago due to feeling like crap from BP spikes as well. Was doing 100mg/week fwiw. Nailing macros and trying to nail all the required micros to see how that changes but wasn't able to figure it all out as I had other issues going on as well. So went off and still had higher then I need BP. Started experimenting with salt and started doing 7-9g of salt/day with my food and some in water. And BP went down pretty much instantly to sub 110/70s. So now I'm very curious if this trick would have helped me to control BP while staying on. I'm pretty much scared to start because I felt so so for a long time after all this "experiment" and def should have done a proper PCT. So anyway yeah salt/hydration/electrolite balance is absolutely crucial to main good BP and also lots of cardio, activity, learning things, hiking, nature, sun, etc, and ofc training/working out religiously .

Thanks everyone for the replies!

Nelson - did you figure this out just by trial and error of trying different meds or did you identify a period (i.e. post injection) where you BP spiked? Also was there some component of your protocol or certain hormone levels that caused this for you? I should say that daily test propionate is far and away the worst offender for me, which makes me think for my personal situation that the rapid spike or flux of levels is either a trigger or amplifies the underlying issue.

Sodium is interesting I do tend to crave salt and struggle to retain water at times. Always thought sodium increased BP due to water retention though guessing that's not the whole picture.

Appreciate the response. For me definitely not e2. I'm a very low aromatizer and if anything struggle with low e2 at times
