Low dose colchicine (an anti-inflammatory drug for Gout) is approved for reducing the risk after heart attack or stroke.
I bet it will help prevent arteriosclerosis which is caused by inflammation from eating too much carbs/sugar.

I have a scrip of 0.6mg. Lipidologist suggested it for reducing hsCRP, the #1 non-specific marker for inflammation, but have been hesitant to start because of some of the side effects, although I suspect it's term and dose-dependent.
