3.5 years on TRT and feeling no effects. Time to give up?

I am currently on 500 hcg eod. And I feel much better than my testosterone protocol. Which I stopped earlier.

the thing is hcg used to work and not work I don’t know why but the last two weeks It was consistently working not sure why but these could be the reason:
1- when I mix hcg I used not to shake it so I rotate the bottle slowly. And when injecting the water inside just press on it.
But now I am super super gentle very gentle don’t even rotate it just move slowly to mix them and when I inject I let it drop down slowly and not just press quickly.

also I take vitamin k2, vitamin d, lysin, vitamin c and iron (to restore my irons level) not sure if they help if they do it could be k2 or vitamin c will check this later if it continues working.

I 100% convinced that hcg alone is more than enough if your leydig cell is still working.

no hematocrit issue, all hormone goes up smoothly not only testosterone. I only hope to see this continues (it’s been almost two successful week) and hope my leydig cell continue working.

my normal T is around 10 with hcg I reach 17. Which is good.

How much vitamin D are you taking?

Morning guys!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

March 2020 will be my four year milestone on TRT. I've tried various clinics (now with Defy), different protocols, gels, injections, HCG, supplements, etc. My T levels remained steady in the upper 800s. In short, I feel no different than I did before finding out my T was tanked.

Any suggestions/thoughts?

As always,

Thanks![/QUOTE
Frankly, the only thing that has helped me with libido is Daily Cialis (5mg). I’ve been on it for months now, maybe six. I tried HCG alone, TRT alone but nothing. I got off everything all together and stayed with the cialis every day. It has worked really well. Just to clarify, at a point I was on a protocol that included TRT, HCG and Daily Cialis also. Since I travel a lot I was always running low on Cypionate, endless restrictions to refill let alone to get a three-month supply. I never could get one. So I had to go with HCG during some trips by itself. At a point due to conflicts with refills, Cialis was the only option I had. After several months to be on it alone I noticed the difference in libido. I’m not saying that my libido has gone through the roof but from being asexual to be interested in sex more frequently, it’s a good thing for me. Besides Cialis makes my life easier as I can get refills every three months and if I were to skip one day or a week, I’m not worried about withdrawal symptoms. The only thing I can advise you to do is to add Daily Cialis to your protocol since your labs show your combo keeps T at an excellent level. I quit cold turkey after 6 months and no sides. However, I can’t say what it’d be like for you to stop abruptly after so many years.

I feel for you . I am a physician and I can tell you that most docs have no clue what they are doing with TRT and the treatment medical practitioners receive is not superior to anyone else. That being said, I was forced at 46 years old to start TRT due to heart failure , hypopituitary , empty sella , severe hypoxia secondary to sleep apnea among other issues . I now sleep in a chair and have gone from being an active weightlifter to a depressed fat person who has no stamina , drive, libido, or motivation . All these issues got much worse on TRT and all labs are constantly monitored. The issue is TRT is necessary for certain issues but worsen others . I regret ever starting TRT because the withdrawal ,even at low doses is horrid and affects overall heart failure to the point that I can’t breathe as well . I have tried different routes of administration and creams and roll ons were the worse . I maintain at 75-100 mg of cypionate IM every 10 days and still have severe aromatase conversion . With the mentioned dose estrogen fractionated runs 200 total which is horrendous and caused breast lesion which needs to monitored . Lipoma right now but who knows what’s to come . I’ve gained 60 lbs and feel like I’m ready to throw the towel in at this point. I have teenage boys that wonder why I can’t do much with them and a medical practice going down the tubes because of lack of energy . So I understand your issues also - just wish I had an answer for us .

These are the reasons why I’ve been on the fence about doing therapy for years. My numbers are in the low 300s for testosterone, and I also have very low estrogen usually around 12 on the sensitive test. My energy levels are really bad and my libido is definitely heavily reduced over the last couple of years. I don’t get Morning wood very often and I feel like therapy would definitely help me. The fear I have though is that it actually might make things worse, and then trying to get off of that would be a nightmare.

In your case I don’t see why not give it a go. You certainly might benefit from it. You can try it for three months and decide what you want to do from that point on. After three months, you’re very unlikely, if you decide to stop TRT, to experience withdrawal symptoms.

I normally do not post to forums as a physician for a variety of legal and ethical reasons , but this site is insightful and supportive and I think has excellent members with a great deal of anecdotal information that should be utilized by docs . Depending on the patient’s issues and depending on the their sensitivity to specific receptors sites as well as Hormonal feedback mechanisms , adrenal/ thyroid function , comorbid illness, overall pituitary function / defect , medications used / doses, sleep architecture, TRT can be extremely difficult to stop abruptly at even at low doses. Tapering doses over time can slowly bring a a person to a steady state except for when TRT has affected other tissues/ organs that may have developed hypo/ hyperplasia changes in tissue structure and function. So even if a patient can get back to pre TRT levels , hormone use may have caused growth or shrinkage of other tissue as a secondary affect which now function differently and can affect the person as a whole no matter what pre TRT hormonal levels were- very complicated for all of us .

You are in the right and in the know. It’s certainly a very individual issue that only a competent physician can address. However, where is that physician? I assume that if a man doesn’t have underlying issues and besides low T levels is “healthy”, the odds of getting benefits from TRT are very high. Indeed, this is all anecdotal and varies from man to man hence the competent physician is a must or at least one who is willing to start the journey with his patient and tweak things as needed. Well, I guess that would qualify the doctor as competent.

You will know when you get off TRT. That is when you will realize what it has done while you reached your "new normal".

Is it true your asexual without hcg? Also Nelson why are so many men struggling with trt working I'm 28 and I literally start today due to varicoceles all these horror stories make me second guess this decision my total t Is 194 e2 17 shbg 22 lh and fsh5

Don’t be discourage though. My experience was very positive. I don’t have a horror story to tell at all. My particular circumstances aren’t related to side effects but life style as in traveling and not having enough supply to continue treatment. HCG was very beneficial to maintain my testicles within their normal size. My lack of libido is related to low T. I mean I’d say asexual because the interest in sex was a goner. But by all means I haven’t heard anything related to become asexual because you don’t use HCG. That’s nonsense.

Nelson has stated that he’s asexual without HCG. You literally just made fun of the person that created the forum that u made fun of him on. That’s some inception type sh*t right there
