New here! 57 year old needing TRT

Just returned from my Urology appt. No MRI ordered. It was recommended, but not required to have an ultrasound of my testicles to rule out varicose veins? I was prescribed .5 of tadalafiL daily.. or more before sexual activity. I will start Testosterone 80 mgs a week divided into two doses 40 mg twice per week via a subcutaneous insulin syringe. I am required to take an instructional class before my prescription is filled. They are backed up that far and that is the reason for the delay. After 30 days on therapy, they will re-evaluate my levels. Does this sound like a reasonable start?

I prefer IM. That said, if the protocol works, it's the right one. I hope you tolerate tadalafil. I'm in the 25% who don't tolerate erectile meds. I get moderate to severe headaches, as well as gastro problems, fatigue and mood problems. I wish I could take one of them. My erectile function is quite hit and miss, with mostly miss. Wish you success.

Focus on the T injections initially. Add the Tadalafil later so you can isolate the variables. It can be confusing if you add too many variables at once.

Agree. On drugs.com user reviews, the men who post seem not to be on testosterone but go to their primary with the issue of ED and off the bat, are prescribed Cialis(tadalifil)or Viagra(sildenafil) or (Levitra)vardenafil. My urologist told me that a TT of 600 is needed for a good response to those drugs but it sounds as if just the medication of a sufficient dose is all that's needed.

My former primary told me about the clinical trials for what became known as Viagra, being tried on men with coronary artery disease, I believe. Don't know what dose was given, but likely high. It was a surprise when some of those men began to manifest spontaneous erections! I read that on the reviews; 100 mg of sildenafil or Viagra brand gets them hard without stimulation and, for some, the effect carries over into the next day. I asked my urologist if there are any hacks to minimize the headaches. He told me two aspirin an hour before taking the medication. I've also read that downing a bottle of Gatorade or several glasses of water can lessen that side effect.

Interested in your comment concerning fatigue and mood problems when taking tadalafil. I have never heard of those 2 issues before when taking tadalafil. Are those known to be common side effects?

Whether or not those sides are listed I don't know, but I experience them. Same problems with psych meds; I get side effects fairly soon after starting, without any benefits.

Anyway, when I receive my prescription, I don't want to wait ... Pharmacy options for me:
Walgreens, CVS, Walmart..

Which is best in your opinion as far as availability, vial size, 90 day supplies, etc..

Neither of these are the best pharmacies, you might consider Humana Pharmacy, which is online and one of the best according to patients satisfaction.

My Kaiser pharmacy orders my Jatenzo prescription up to two weeks in advance upon my request. I'm about to pick up my prescription in a matter of days and still have two weeks worth on my old prescription.

I live in Florida and go to Publix, which is a major grocery chain. I turn in my rx and in one or two days, I have it. I also have the option of Optum Mail Order Pharmacy through my insurance. No price break but every six weeks they send me one or two vials, depending on what my doctor prescribed.

Finally, after over 3 months, I got my script, after going through "prior authorization" now it's on order, waiting....................

Urologist prescribed me: for 1st. month 4 vials of Testosterone Cyp 200mg/ml Sdv 1ml to take 40mg twice per week. Check levels in 1 month and go from there.. I'm looking forward to getting started!

Got em.. Pharmacist gave me 8 1ml vials and told me to discard the remaining test after every shot. I did my first injection and it was a nervous piece of cake. The only syringes they had in stock were 3CC @1/2" 25g so I only got a few. I'll have to look around for the Easy-Touch brand. 29g, 1/2 inch, 1 cc. Amazon is not an option for me in Massachusetts.. Any other reasonable places? thanks
