For men out there with female spouses or significant others...If your spouse/wife/significant other is in menopause, and has been for some time, she could need some pelvic floor health. My spouse suffered from endometriosis in her early thirties. This ultimately lead to a total hysterectomy. When Premerin was withdrawn from estrogen replacement in women, she became essentially post menopausal in her early 40's. Many years later, getting back to topical and other estrogen replacement, she also needed pelvic floor rehab therapy due to the long term loss of estrogen. I can tell you, if your spouse finds sex painful, it can take more than just some topical estrogen for her to be able to enjoy sex. But the good news, is don't give up, there is help. There are pelvic floor specialists available who know and understand the problems from low estrogen. Pelvid floor therapy can help significantly if they are willing to stick with it. This is not to downplay the role of topical or other estrogen replacement. Just to understand, it may take a little more effort, especially if they have been without estrogen (menopausal) for a long time.

IN my wife's case, as soon as Dr. Rubin realized the depth of the problem (long term lack of estrogen) she informed and encouraged seeking a pelvic floor specialist to being the physical therapy and even helped with finding several close to us to choose from. We have both been seeing Dr. Rubin. She is a Godsend. If you are in the DC region or able to visit her perhaps once a year, and video conf with her if needed, she is remarkable. When she says no judgement, and what level of performance do YOU want? She means it.
