COLUMBUS, Ohio – Eating an apple a day might in fact help keep the cardiologist away, new research suggests. In a study of healthy, middle-aged adults, consumption of one apple a day for four weeks lowered by 40 percent blood levels of a substance linked to hardening of the arteries. Taking capsules containing polyphenols, a type of antioxidant found in apples, had a similar, but not as large, effect.
The study, funded by an apple industry group, found that the apples lowered blood levels of
oxidized LDL-- low-density lipoprotein, the "bad" cholesterol. When LDL cholesterol interacts with free radicals to become oxidized, the cholesterol is more likely to promote inflammation and can cause tissue damage.

Apples, as long as they are organic, provide healthy water soluble pectin fiber that binds cholesterol and provides other digestive tract benefits. Studies coming out of Ohio, let alone one funded by industry and associated with OH Dept of Agriculture have -0- credibility. Why? Ask the families of the young deceased and maimed-for-life victims of the OH Dept Agriculture Amusement Ride Inspectors. Or the independent pharmacists being run out of OH by the robber baron tactics of CVS in collaboration with the OH Legislature whose motto is: "Lie, Deny, Codify immunity". Eat and enjoy your organic green apples, peel and core, because you feel well from doing so rather than the heavily pesticide dipped ones this fake study and its discredited institutions are promoting.
