Beta-sitosterol

Hi Guys:

Is anybody taking beta-sitosterol? I did not find much information in the forums on this and what I found in the internet is confusing and sometimes contradictory. I read beta-sitosterol inhibits activity of 5-alpha-reductase and Testosterone is metabolized to DHT by the enzyme 5 alpha-reductase. It seems like it acts similarly to Saw Palmetto? I am considering trying beta-sitosterol for my prostate but don't want to mess with my hormones. I had bad experiences with Saw Palmetto. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Prostate problems have more to do with Estrogen I believe, you might try googling that...how are you doing that regard? Suppressing DHT whether it be thru this, SP, or Finasteride/etc is usually a poor thing to do.

Thanks Vince. That is what I thought. My estrogen is pretty much under control ( 35 sensitive test). My prostate problems are pretty mild. Thanks for the guidance.
