Hi I want if anybody could point me in the right direction at looking at trying something that may help me.. awake every night / morning 3 a.m... I have followed all the Google advise don't use your phone get the right temperature for the room don't drink coffee alcohol.. I am getting 5 hours if that have broken sleep.. once I wake it can take me an hour or more to get back to sleep then I wake up shattered. I take 150mg a week of testosterone E. Recently had a full blood panel done and thyroid is fine.. any pointers guys??
I have gone through the same thing. Went to a sleep doctor. He recommended 5 mg of melatonin about an hour before bed. He also recommended some light thing that you are supposed to stare at when you wake up for period of time each day, but I never did it. The melatonin seems to work well.

Thanks don't think I can get melatonin in the UK. I'll have to check ...

Thought I should also say. I get very warm at night. Partner says I'm like an oven. Duvet has to be pulled off and must have my feet out to cool down . I read that Hematocric levels can increase at night ... I know my last blood panel showed slightly higher red cells

Feeling hot at night may be a symptom of a serious problem: from HIV infection to cancer. I have hiv and years before being diagnosed, my partner then said that I was like oven during the night. Get yourself checked: Causes for night sweats

Mine weren't with sweating either, just noticeably increased body temperature during sleep. It was due probably to immune system fighting HIV and burning up energy. During that period, I noticed that it was very easy for me to eat sweets and not get even flabby, due to the higher energy demand in the body.

Is your HIV controlled by drugs?

What dose do you use? I ordered some after Andrew Huberman recommended it along with apigenin and theanine as an amazing sleep stack but haven’t opened it yet. I might pick up some theanine today and pair the two to see how it goes.
2000mg with 144 elemental mag. (3 tabs at 48mg elemental each)
However, I have knocked it back to one tab (48mg) at bedtime and things feel much better that 2 or three tabs. I never take it in the morning, I relax too much.

It is yes . 8 years undetectable

Drop the testosterone to 100mg/week and see if insomnia improves. There are many threads here about TRT causing insomnia, which resolves after stopping TRT.

The usual recommended "sleep hygiene" and supplements do not work for organic insomnia like yours. Gabanergic supplements such as L-Glutamine (5g) or NAC (500mg) work - they seem to increase GABA levels in the brain.

Another option is to try prescription zolpidem (generic Ambien).
First idea. Even less then 100/week maybe 80. I can easily trash my sleep by increasing my dose. Exactly the same symptoms. I fall in sleep and very early in the morning I wake up.

I have the same issue. You are running out of liver's glycogen overnight and adrenaline kicks in to compensate. My fix was to take 1mg progesterone right before sleep.

I would also typically wake up between 3 and 3:30 am, and then be unable to get back to sleep. After years of trial and error, I have found the following allows me to consistently sleep from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am (or more) without any ill effects the next day:

500 mg magnesium (type doesn’t matter for me)
500 mg ksm-66 ashwagandha
300 mg gabapentin (RX)

I could perhaps do without one or another of these, but I don’t want to experiment and mess with my 8+ hours of glorious sleep every night!

Everyone is different, but this works for me. Good luck.

+1 for Melatonin. I've dealt with early waking insomnia for years. I take 8-10mg every night, a combination between instant release and extended release. That usually solves the problem.

Why does this happen m why would I run out of it ... What makes that happen ?

Most of the work is probably done by the 300mg gabapentin. It may suppress libido and ejaculation/orgasm - I've seen one review in which a male states he can't take more than 400mg gabapentin at night since it would make it difficult to ejaculate. Gabapentin may also drop blood pressure.

Can't get that now in the UK
