TRT and sleep issues

Been doing TRT for about 7 years now. It seems like my sleep quality has always been poor. Never feel totally relaxed or sleep through the night. It's always sort of a fitful sleep. I'd never thought to attribute it to the testosterone until my wife recently started on a low dose herself, along with estradiol. She started complaining of the same thing, and she has always been a sound sleeper. Has anyone else experienced this?

same here. Been years of poor sleep since starting trt and am currently weighing my options with trt or possibly discontinuing trt and seeing if sleep resolves.

Interesting. Are u guys taking magnesium? Trt can ramp up the system a bit, and cause the body to deplete nutrients more/ faster than not being on it, especially magnesium, and healthy magnesium levels are extremely important when it comes to sleep. Are u guys eating enough fatty red meat on a daily basis? That’s really the only way I see someone getting enough of the nutrients that they need, on a daily basis, on or off TRT. Not saying everyone needs to eat carnivore, but everyone definitely needs to consume at least a serving or two of fatty red meat each day, imo. People vastly underestimate the importance diet plays, in regards to HRT working for them or not, imo. Vitamin D is another important one when it comes to sleep. U guys getting enough vitamin D?

I get my share of red meat! I do take magnesium but there are different types. I take magnesium taurate. I take vitamin D regularly and get a lot of sun. That has been checked before and it is always very good.

I take magnesium biglyscinate. I eat red meat just about every meal outside of breakfast. I have yet to find anything that helps with sleep….at all. I’ve have vit D checked often. Vit D level high or low does not have an effect one way or another on sleep for me. At a loss.

Maybe you can switch up your injection frequency, or maybe inject before bed if your using Test E or C:) ?

There are threads about best sleep supplements/medications, thus sleep seems to be a problem in general.
Magnesium, Melatonin, GABA, Pregnenolone (Progesterone) supplementation can help.

I've tried TC, TP, creams, morning, night, Daily, 1x Week. Multiple dosing strategies Etc. I've tried most any supplement that supposedly can help sleep. I've tried Rx sleep medications such as ambien, seroquel, multiple benzos, (I know short term tests) Honestly I havent saw much difference or at least no long term difference in how any of it has effected sleep.

Some of @madman Stuff has peaked my interest in oral form. The maximus version really has my interest but I'm hesitant only because of the cost.

Damn, was really hoping u guys were slacking in the red meat/ magnesium departments, and adding them in could be a quick fix for u both. But sounds like u both have those things covered pretty well

My sleep has been a bit worse since starting T over 15 years ago. Keeping the dose as low as possible where the benefits exceed the downsides is what I've done (~70 mg/week of cyp, split in 2 shots). Doing the shots in the morning helps. Taking saw palmetto (for me only 2x/week) helps, as I seem to be sensitive to DHT.

There is still some mild perceived reduction in sleep quality, but it's not nearly as much as it was when I started. I've long held the belief that there is still a net benefit to my overall wellbeing with the T, even with the slight sleep issues. However, this may not be the case for everyone.

I do have to have extremely disciplined sleep hygiene. Amber glasses at 7pm (asleep 11pm), exercise daily, sauna a few times per week, magnesium, vitamin D/ sun, meditation, etc etc. This all helps my overall health and day to day wellbeing and I do it for many other reasons, so it's not like I'm only doing it to sleep better due to T hurting sleep.

One issue for me is low ferritin. Last test was 27. This has been an issue since starting trt.(possibly prior to trt but didn’t ever have it tested prior).
Hct and hgb are both mid/high end or range. Never donate blood.

I can increase my ferritin to 100 using @FDV70 protocol but only lasts a week or so and it right back low. I’ve read this can affect sleep as well.
