I am thinking of adding in some probiotics into my diet as I am sure my diet may not be the most conducive to having great gut bacteria.
Any recommendations and thoughts...
Bio-K+ refrigerated , 50 billion cnt, multiple species
Green Valley Kefir organic lactose-free. Check dairies in your area
sauerkraut non-pasturized
Kombucha
You can ferment at home and benefit from some species if you get a culture.
Get familar with each species and what they do for you personally. Some will do nothing for you at all. You will know what works after a week of use. Most bacillus do not survive passage through the stomach. Acidophilus, a lactobacillus, is the most common but of limited benefit on its own.
L.fermentum - tpicall found in kimchee, superoxide dismutase
L. plantarum
L. rhamnosus
L. salivarius
B. bifidum
L. paracasei - liver function
L. reuteri - oral and digestive health
If ever on anti-biotics or in the hospital you need powerful probiotics to prevent c.difficile . Bio-k+ is a good choice.
If caps have not been refrigerated since production they are not nearly as effective as fresh culture but ma still be beneficial.
