Last Throw of the Dice - advise on Arimidex dosage

Update:

Been a week since taking the .25mg of adex and lowering the dosage to 20mg M/W/F from 25mg.

Deffo less bloated and carry less water, down 3kg from this time last week and feel like at better.

Less fatigue and morning wood is back and spontaneous erections every now and then as well.

Had my sensitive estradiol done Tues and it was 28 so nicely in range and seems like a range I’m most happy in.

Going to leave everything now for two months and let it all settle in and get full bloods again. Only thing I will do is have another E2 test if I lose libido and notice I’m getting watery.

Going to limit carbs as well and see how that works after seeing a video of an interview with Nelson where he said carbs made him carry water and I had a high carb diet due to all the endurance training.

Appreciate all the help and opinions shared

Not trying to derail the thread and get into any debate about diet lol, but u mentioned u do endurance training. Being in ketosis, and having ur body’s main fuel source be ketones, opposed to glucose, is the ideal fuel source for anything endurance related. Can send u a bunch of stuff going over the subject in more detail if u want. U would also not have to worry about any excess water retention while being in ketosis, since carbs would be very low each day.

Yes please do as this was a real concern of mine and kept me from going low carb for a long time.

I was mostly concerned around fueling for and during races as I usually carb load and then take on 70-80g of carbs every hour for any races over 3 hours and 50g of carbs per hour for 2-3 hour races. How would I fuel if I was low carb during a race?

So it’s actually pretty simply. When running off glucose, u have spikes in energy, and then lows, and u have to continuously refuel/ consume more carbs to maintain those glucose spikes.

Whilst ketones are like a sustained release version of energy. Anyone that goes on the carnivore diet/ and also the keto diet (if they’re doing it with all unprocessed/ whole foods) will tell u, that one thing they all notice, is that their energy levels are high all day. No highs and lows. And the reason that being in ketosis is so ideal for anything endurance related, is the fact that a person can maintain their energy levels from the fats they consume, as well as from the fat stores they have in their body. So it’s going to be a while before a person runs out of energy, while being in ketosis. It’s the perfect thing for someone that’s interested in endurance performance. Once u look into it, ur going to see that having ur body run on glucose, as its primary fuel source, is extremely stupid, when it comes to anything endurance related, for lack of a better term lol.

So if u were to have an endurance related event coming up, u would simply load up on very fatty red meat, opposed to carb loading. Assuming that u’ve given ur body a chance to adapt to being in ketosis for a bit, prior to the event. U obv want to make sure ur body is used to running on ketones, as its main fuel source

If you focus on the research then you find the effects of ketosis on endurance are mixed at best.

Limited and heterogeneous findings prohibit definitive conclusions regarding efficacy of the EAKD [endurance athlete’s ketogenic diet] for performance benefit. When compared to a high carbohydrate diet, there are mixed findings for the effect of EAKD consumption on VO2 max and other performance outcomes.

Interesting skeptical comment on the first video:

This guy doesn't have a clue how racing actually works. In a real race, a cyclist can easily have 3+ hours in a glycolytic state (z3,z4,z5). Sure you can be keto for an endurance race, you just won't be winning anything. Yeah youll only be doing 3-8 minute efforts on keto and fat Till you bonk, mean while the people doing carbs will be doing 20-60 minutes z4 efforts and 2-3hrs total time in zone.

Does look like some of the research is mixed. And I’m no expert on the subject, by any means. Just seems to make sense, based on the anecdotes I’ve come across, and also how ketones work as a fuel source, vs glucose, that having the body run mainly on ketones, for energy, would be ideal for endurance athletes.

Dr shawn baker is a pretty good example. He’s a pretty accomplished athlete, for his age, and he reports that his endurance has been greatly increased since going carnivore. I believe he broke an American record, in rowing, while being carnivore. This isn’t the best example, however, since it looks like it was a short distance row record

There are other examples tho, like this Swiss triathlete that has one of the fastest Ironman times of all time
