I will tell you from my own experience. My levels hit the higest naturally on ssri. But still only 380. But I also wasn’t expecting it to resolve low t related symptoms. It was for low cortisol symptoms and it helped a lot for me. Most people on these forums will tell you to steer clear of ssri. Very low dose has helped me a lot in my health journey.do you guys think trying out ssri before trt is worth it? treating depression and anxiety to see if my levels go up? i know low t could cause depression, but depression could also cause low t or worsen it?
Amen, same for me as well. TRT did nothing for me. The only time I was able to start feeling better again was with a low dose SSRI. For some it works, for others it doesn't. It's just like TRT.I was a patient of Dr. Crisler. We tried every trick he had in the book. Trt alone at varying doses. Trt with hcg. Trt with a.i. Trt with hydrocortisone. Trt with t3 meds. Trt with preg and dhea. I tried various restarts with clomid alone. Clomid with danazol to lower shbg during. Triptorelin injection.
Although I may not be as well versed in speaking on the forums. I’ve been through the ringer with trt. And so far the best thing that helped me with my hormone problems has been low dose ssri. But those meds are not well received on these forums. But they have been a game changer for me and only reason I used them is because dr Mariano has said they can help with low normal cortisol levels
This totally depends on you. I can speak from experience in that I have suffered a general mild anxiety throughout my entire life. The type of anxiety I had never really interfered with life. I was never hiding under a table or refusing to go to work or school. Mine was an anxiety that I felt internally throughout my body whenever an unexpected stressor came up. Where my anxiety did effect me the most was in the bedroom. I had major performance anxiety; add the fact that I felt stress overall in my life it really put me over the top. I started TRT because I thought I had a low libido due to low T. I had lower numbers for my age and I struggled with my weight pre SSRI's. I tried TRT for a year and never gained a sustainable libido. It did help me in the gym with strength, however it never did anything to calm my general anxiety. That's when I realized that the anxiety was causing all of my issues, not my low T. I remembered how I felt on a low dose SSRI and missed that. I went to my shrink, she prescribed me a low dose SSRI and ever since then I've been clear minded, relaxed, and I'm not worried about sexual performance anymore. I finally feel like myself and that's what I was hoping with TRT. Everybody is different, but you have to ask yourself, have you always had some kind of low level anxiety or did it happen all of a sudden? Not to overgeneralize, but if you are the former than maybe a low dose SSRI will work for you and if you're the latter you should try TRT.do you guys think trying out ssri before trt is worth it? treating depression and anxiety to see if my levels go up? i know low t could cause depression, but depression could also cause low t or worsen it?
Glad to hear you are doing well......in my experience when I tried my restart the one thing I noticed was a total absence of the "funny chest pains" when my T level was lower. Same thing happened when I went off cold turkey. I suspect the pains were anxiety related. In the boat where I feel better physically and sexually with a higher T level, but it aggravates the anxiety. Im tired of jacking with it so I just try to find the lowest dose where I can manage the anxiety and have sex a couple of times a week. Total pain in the ass, but its where Im at.It’s been a while since my last update.
Felling good overall. Libido is not an issue, like I thought it would be.
I’m still on a low/no carb diet whilst intermittent fasting. I’m down, as of today, 13 pounds.
I lift three days a week doing the big three (squat, bench and dead lift).
Blood pressure back down to normal range.
No more funny chest pains. This could have been a mind thing because it was and issue I could not overcome while on TRT.
It’s been about 4 months since coming off T and I wanted to give an update.
My Blood pressure is good and not high as it was when on TRT.
My anxiety is gone.
No more chest pains.
Libido is great.
Sleep is great.
I have not tested my t levels because I don’t know that the number would matter at this point. I don’t have the symptoms of a low t.
I’m feeling good and grateful that I was able to come off without any extreme side effects. This community is and has been helpful with my journey.
40Timk how old are you if you don’t mind me asking?
