I thought that I would ask who hear is able to administer TRT without the use of ED drugs like viagra, cialis and levitra. I mean, is it common for most men to use erectile dysfunction drugs while on TRT? Or are there some guys that can do without ED drugs? Would a poll be worth doing? :)

There are plenty of guys who don't need cialis/viagra on TRT.

In my opinion, requiring a PDE5 inhibitor would indicate that you are not dialed in unless there are other underlying issues that would require the use of a PDE5 inhibitor like vascular issues.

It drives me crazy when guys say "I have my TRT dose dialed in" but require Cialis for an erection and 5 other medications or supplements to deal with the effects of their dose.

It's also misleading, as people rarely share their entire protocol when offering advice or what works for them unless they're asked directly. They might say "I'm doing great on 75mg twice a week" but neglect to share that they need cialis just to get an erection, aromatase inhibitor/hcg use which influences protocols, other prescription medications, HGH, peptides, etc. There is a big difference between 150mg of test, and 150 mg of test with daily cialis, .25mg anastrozole twice a week, 250iu hcg every other day, etc.

Like I said, this is without other conditions that would require other medical interventions. But if the dose itself is causing ED, certain side effects, etc, the dose is most likely wrong for that person. Its usually the high dose guys, but I've seen it across the board.

All that being said, if you tolerate/enjoy/benefit from Cialis, there's nothing wrong with using it.

A lot of people who need ED drugs and on trt are due to prior steroid usage. It’s actually rare to find someone who takes peds currently or in the past who doesn’t need some help.

It may not be a side effect of the TRT dose, it might be a side effect of the inability to right the ship.

Remember, TRT isn't a cure for all your health problems. If you're to a degree beyond the point of no return, irreversible damage, you'll need extras to function normally.

But there are a lot of guys that do have their dose dialed in, as well as all other blood markers being in place like iron, hemoglobin etc, and with no issues with dophane levels, but yet, they still have the problem with erectile dysfunction :(

Lots of men.

If you have no underlying vascular issues and your ED is due to low testosterone then chances are slim that you would need to use a PDE5i.

Testosterone alone can improve milder forms of ED but is not as effective when one suffers from moderate-severe ED due to more severe vascular damage.

Depending on the degree of vascular/endothelial dysfunction and the severity of the ED many men will need to use PDE5is or in more severe cases intracavernosal injections when on TRT to achieve a healthy erection.

Also, keep in mind that many men on TRT who never suffered from ED before starting therapy still use PDE5i as there are many beneficial effects to maintaining long-term penile let alone cardiovascular health.

Looking at the bigger picture there is a good chance that you will suffer from some degree of ED eventually.

Aging let alone underlying vascular health will play a significant role.

If anything low dose tadalafil (daily) would have a beneficial effect on the overall health of penile tissue.

Agreed, which could have many causes. That's why I tried to make it clear in my post that if the only issue a guy was having was low production of testosterone, they shouldn't need ED drugs unless there is another underlying issue, whether it be vascular, performance anxiety, etc. But so many guys jack their T up to 1100 at trough with 60 e2 and wonder why they're limp when not everyone can handle levels like that.

That was the entire point of my post. If the only problem is low T, there should be absolutely zero need for PDE5 inhibitors to function. Other issues, like vascular, performance anxiety, etc and now we are talking about a multiple diagnosis issue which goes beyond just TRT.

And too many guys want to run astronomical T and E2 levels because they think its better to take as much as possible and cause themselves to be impotent, when a more reasonable dose would serve them much better.

I do not “require” daily tadalafil on trt. But it makes it that much better. I have good erections with out it. But great erections with it lol.

i have been on TRT for over 6 years and have a very active sex life. I do not need ED drugs or take most of the time, however I do take Cialis or Trimix when i want to last for hours.

Same as many of the other guys. On 180mg/wk taking 2 .125mg anastrozole (this is due to a genetically extremely low SHBG even prior to TRT and teenage high test aromatization shut down my test production as a teen and I developed gyno as a result) and I have zero issues with ED. When I was getting used to TRT I had some desensitization and trouble finishing but that tapered off after some time and was given a script for tadalafil as a result. Helps a smidge with blood pressure and can spice things up if I know the wife and I plan to mess around when it’s late and I’m tired. I’ve found that fatigue plays a larger role in my ability to get an erection than it ever used to when I was younger. If it’s earlier in the day, we go at it like absolute animals, but if it’s late, it’s very difficult to even find the motivation to go at it lol. I work out 6 days per week and as a result, by about 8 or so, my energy reserves are pretty much depleted and all I want to do at that point is veg out or sleep. If the wife is feeling frisky, she will play around with me enough to get the drive going, but the tadalafil can speed that process up if she’s looking to get it a little bit faster.
