Were you sufficiently hydrated? I found that hydration can make big difference. I once got tested after long flight and tested significantly higher than my usual (51 versus 48). I re-tested a week later and was back to normal.

Drank 3 tall glasses of water an hour before. Maybe that wasn’t enough? The draw was at 8am

I went from twice a week to 3 times a week for 3 months and mine went way up also. Went back to 2 times a week and it’s fine now.

It amazes me how much focus is given to cramming (water) (in effect cheating) for the test in order to get a lower hematocrit number, by members of this forum.

If you do not maintain that level of hydration day to day except for test time, your labs are not a true representation of your baseline. It also will affect your other labs besides HCT.

So do you want false numbers or real representation of your actual day to day levels?
