Hi guys,
Looking for some advice following some recent blood work I’ve had.
I’ve been suffering with erecitle dysfunction for a very long time now. Pretty much since I was sexually active in my early 20s which makes me believe I have some fairly major hypogonadism. I never could really understand why it kept happening to me.

I’m a 35yr old and basically I’m at the point where I can only get a good erection with viagra. If I don’t take viagra I either have to not have sex or masturabte for an entire week or I have weak semi hard erections.

Anyway the blood results show I have very high progesterone levels (not sure what effect this has), testosterone is not optimal but to be honest I was surprised it wasnt much lower. Although this doesn’t explain the persistent ED I am always facing. Additionally when having sex I tend to sweat quite heavily a few minutes in which makes me think I have an issue with my hypothalamus.
I have an appointment scheduled to discuss my results but I have to wait a month with the clinic.

Any advise on what these results mean and what are my options? I’ve highlighted progesterone and cortisol in bold as they were shown to be above high normal.

Total testosterone: 565ng/dl
Free T3: 4.92pmol/l
Free T4: 14.8pmol/l
FSH: 6.2 IU/L
LH: 5.3 IU/L
Oesdradiol: 129 pmol/L
Progesterone: 0.7 nmol/L
Cortisol: 560.0 nmol/L

Prolactin: 195 mU/L
SHBG: 48 nmol/L

Thanks

Men are very sensitive to progesterone, symptom from high levels are, bloating, ED, decreased sex drive and low penile sensitivity.

Are you taking any pregnenolone supplements?

For what its worth: I listen to a Doctor who has a weekly radio show, he treats the normal but undesired effects of aging.

He says that progesterone is good for the prostate and may help keep it from becoming enlarged. He says that in order to do that a person would need to maintain a progesterone level around 2.0 ng/mL ... 6.9343 nmol/L

Mine runs between 1.5 ng/mL and 1.9 ng/mL.
Conversion of 1.9 ng/mL to nmol/L would be 6.5876; so yours is pretty low compared to mine.

I have had no adverse effects from keeping my progesterone in this range for the past 18 months.

I hope this helps.

Here is a link to a calculator so you can convert nmol/L to ng/mL if you are interested.

I eat quite well, lots of green veg on my diet. And work out and run regularly. I also wonder if my ED could be cardiovascular related and not due to T levels

Do you have progesterone blood levels while applying the 10mg of progesterone cream? What is the brand? Where are you applying the cream? Thanks!

Dr Mercola's website suggests applying Progesterone via the rectum creates the best absorption with least side effects Is that commonly done by members on this website? I am 79 and will be starting Source Natural Progesterone cream soon.

What are u taking to keep ur prog level this high? What’s the range on ur prog labs?

For what it’s worth my prog has come back pretty high for months and months now. Trying to figure out what I’m taking that’s causing it. but it’s been in the 1.4-1.6 range for months and months now, and my libido and erections have both been pretty damn good. And refractory period is very short. Sexually been doing really well the whole time while my prog has been high. Range on my prog labs is (0.0-0.5ng/ml). So I’m like triple the top of the range. Although, my prog labs used to go up to 1.0 ng/ml, until they lowered the top of the range a few years back. I suspect they lowered it for the same reason they lowered the top of the total testosterone lab. Because men’s hormone levels are dropping as a whole as the years go on

Here’s a pretty good vid where the guy is teaching a group of doctors, I’m assuming, and tells them that he likes to see most guys in the 1.2 ng/ml range with progesterone. Or up to 1.2 ng/ml. Think he might have said he likes guys in the 0.7-1.2 ng/ml range, can’t remember exactly

I apply it to the perineum and scrotum with good results.

I’m interested in progesterone but I’m still on the fence about what normal levels in healthy men are. I’ve seen the ranges of 0.0 - 1.2 ng/ml as normal, presumably using the Roche immunoassay as the test method. But then I’ve seen ranges as low as 0.0 - 0.3 ng/ml using lc/ms.
