Hi folks - started with Nebido

Goodmorning,

first of all thanks for the accept on this great website / Forum.
I m 47 years old and have been on HRT treatment for 7 years now with a very good Belgian Endocrinologe. I have been on gels till 1.5 month ago and recently switched to Nebido.
gels in Belgium are maxed at 2,5mg so I had to put on too much and my endo found Nebido more suitable.
my endo prscribed me 1 injection 4ml in each buttcheak every 8 weeks (so 8ml per 8 weeks). She told me that 4ml is too little and t will drop before too low before the 8 weeks are passed. This is based on her experience with other patients.

I am doing blood work every 2 weeks now because measuring is knowing

Week 2

test: 1461
free test: 31.04
oestradiol: 34
blood pressure: 125/65 approximately


week 4

test: 1013
free test: 18,56
oestradiol: 31
Blood pressure: stable

I will keep up with blood work every 2 weeks till week 8 at least..


I must say I feel pretty good and hope my levels will stable up with time so i won t need a double dose any more later on.

everyone any experience on 8ml per x 8 or ten weeks?

We don't use Nebido in the USA, it's typically prescribe in Europe and is the least favorable option, so you won't find anyone here who uses it. Nebido isn't ideal way to do TRT because it's next to impossible to balance you out do to the long half life, a modern TRT protocol favors frequent injections to keep hormone levels stable to where you have the least amount of fluctuations. I inject 16mg EOD do to low SHBG, Nebido would never work for me as I can't handle a Total T over 600 ng/dL.

Nebido is TRT done wrong because you can't maintain stable hormone levels, TRT done right is keeping hormone levels as stable as possible and you can't do that with Nebido. You'll alway be starting out high and then weeks later levels will start dropping, hardly an ideal situation.

You're wasting your money doing labs every 2 weeks.

T Levels Dropping on Nebido

Nebido is test undeconate long lasting ester..usual protocol is 1000mg injection every 10 weeks..most ppl saying felt crash after 4 to 6 weeks.so i find splitting that into 1 x500mg every 4 weeks fine.

Why pin a long ester like undeconate every week?
It does however take several months to get it into your system for stable levels..
If i feel lowish after 3 weeks i will just inject a week early..but so far so good.
Once nebido built up in my system after 12 months i will then most likely make it every 6 or 8 weeks injections..
Bloods will determine the schedule.
Also wen i blast for 10 weeks on test and deca..i still dont miss the nebido jab on week 4.

In UK, Nebido is an initial 1000mg injection followed up by a further 1000mg injection 6 weeks later.

After this further injection, bloods are taken at the 6 / 8 / 10 week stage to determine testosterone levels, if these are low between to 8 - 10 week stage, a further 1000mg injection can be given at 10 weeks rather than the 12 week guideline

someone mentioned 2 week lab checks are a waste of money, this is not correct when initially kicking off with Nebido as you need to know your levels at the 6/8/10 week stage so you can ensure the correct timing of next injection.

my feeling compared to gels is a lot better: I dit never try ethanate nog Cipionathe before as I am new to Injections so I can t share these experiences unfortionunately.
to me personally one treatment every 8 weeks seems ideal. As I read about it it builds up after a few injects what even prolongates it.

dont you have the typically highs and troughs much havier with injecting weekly once or twice then? My endo told me this would be the case ... I m not the expert here so open to discussion...

I know I exagurate with my blood works but that's typically me ffcourse once on a decent protocol I will keep it at the end of week 8

When you inject more frequently you can get pretty super stable levels, much more stable than Nedibo. Low SHBG men do well on more frequent injections because we feel the slightest fluctuation easily. I feel the same all the time when injecting EOD once I reach a stable state after 6 weeks, you will get peaks and valleys injecting weekly, that's why we tailor our protocol to our specific SHBG level. It doesn't sound like your doctor understands a modern TRT protocol and that peaks and troughs can be eliminated by injecting more frequently.

Always considered peaks and troughs "Natural" to the human body, for someone fit and healthy with good natural testosterone production they start to dip through out the day as the day goes on, they then go to bed, sleep and get boosted back up again, a natural rhythm of life.

Someone on high testosterone 24/7 is not natural to this rhythm, possibly why I prefer Testogel as it follows a more natural body rhythm gradually dropping off through out the day as nature intended.

I had to put on 8ml daily and levels reached between 400 and 500 average.
Free T was not great either

i did nod feel bad on is but must say that Nebido does a whole other job without feeling 'too high' and nearly no aromatisation. Strangely mij sbgh and estradiol was higher on 8ml gel and t level 430 than now on Nebido with 1000 level ...
I am not sponsored by Bayer although: costs me 110€ per 4ml �� So 220€ per 8-10 weeks is that....

it is a gel that a pharmasist makes with 2,5% testosterone...
it should give a stable level and I was pleased with it... But Nebido is so much easier. Not having to put it on daily and waiting 15 minutes before putting on clothes, no contamination with wife or children possible...
I will keep you guys informed. Tomorrow I will do my next blood work on 6 weeks. I am curious
I still have gel left and give Nebido a try. If it does nos work for me for at least 8 weeks between intervals i ll talk to my doctor.
must say that gel gave me a more natural high and low and psychologicaly injecting has a larger impact on me because I don t controle the procedure....

seems like levels drop with 25% per 2 weeks aproximately...

Due to my high hemoglobine and high hematocit i gave blood today for the red cross.... Helping people out and lowering my hemaglobine. I was at 17.6 so the doctor told me it was good to give...
does anybody know how long it takes before hematocrit/hemoglobine
will peak again? Doing my second nebido next week and next blood donation will be within three months... Thanks guys for sharing your experiences

Hello Bertrand, i think i go to the same doctor as you (wellcare?). I was on 1x nebido every 8 weeks but i just had an appointment and now it is 2x every 8 weeks. How are you feeling on nebido?

Hey Bertrand, another guy here going to apparently the same doctor in Belgium here, we can start a club soon
I just started nebido after three months on the gel which did nothing for me. Would love to hear more about your experiences so far. I just started TRT but like you I also got 2x 4ml nebido and will redo that after 8 weeks. Am also on the thryoid meds and hydrocortisone so it appears we're at a very similar protocol. Curious to pick your brain if you don't mind. What was your initial T level + what was the change when you switched from gels to nebido in T levels? Did you experience weight gain on nebido?

Some men gain weight after starting TRT, I've heard of some men gaining weight for the first several months and by the 1 year mark everything normalizes. High estrogen can cause water weight, then you would need anastrozole to control estrogen if lowering the dosage fails to lower estrogen.

It can take longer to balance out on Nebido do to the slower ester, it is this reason Nebido isn't going to work for everyone, especially those who hyper metabolize testosterone.
