hcg monotherapy vs hcg and test when trying to conceive

Hi all,

I've been doing the hcg monotherapy for close to a year now, currently at 450iu 3x a week. I've been working with bodylogic MD here in Mn. I was on anastrazole 2x a week, (forgot the dose) then my E2 tanked, then we cut the dose in half and it tanked again so now im not on anastrazole at all and we're testing again in a couple weeks. My wife and I have been trying to have a baby for a while now. Things are fine on my end - i've had my sperm tested x 2 and has came back great. We're working with a fertility specialist for some issues on my wife's end.

My initial goal was to stay with the monotherapy until we had a baby. I'd like to do the hcg and test combo as i think it would give me better results. It's been up and down for me since I started the hcg mono therapy with my mood, libido, and numbers. Im getting blood drawn in a week or 2 to retest everything again.

My question is are there others on here that have successfully conceived while being on hcg AND test? According to this study it sounds like while using both you can preserve healthy sperm. Best HCG Dose for Men on TRT: Two Studies That Used HCG with Testosterone

Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. thanks

HCG, and FSH analogue in combination works best, some physicians do use HCG with T alone while other just use HCG, FSH separately while others use combine therapy of HCG/FSH in one pill.

Depending on your sperm count/T levels they alter your medication. Some also get you to freeze sperm before starting any therapy eg TRT.

I agree with LowT2014. FSH is highly effective but also very expensive.

If I was trying to have kids, I would get my sperm tested before starting testosterone plus HCG and then at week 4, 8 and 12. Sperm testing is not expensive.

If your sperm quantity and quality is not good with TRT+HCG, then you can think about other options.

Dr. Lipshultz' practice in Houston has had great success with TRT+HCG and they published the only paper out there proving that this combo works to keep sperm healthy in men who are on testosterone. But even with this paper, I would do my own trial by measuring sperm quality every few weeks.

I just wanted to add that I got my wife pregnant while on testosterone and HCG, and had been on TRT for 5 or 6 years prior. I have never actually tested my sperm count and we were not trying to conceive at the time. I have worked amongst TRT patients for many years and have witnessed a lot of men become fathers while on Test + HCG, even some men who had been diagnosed low count/motility prior to TRT. If you need to get more aggressive you can come off T and take HCG and HMG, but it sounds like you do not need to do this. Like Nelson stated, there is an inclination some amongst some that test + hcg can actually improve motility and count in aging men.
