Doc won't prescribe injections but offered gel:

My point is that if you are prone to pattern hairloss then there probably is some correlation between serum DHT and rate of loss, even though tissue DHT is what matters most. As there is a measure of control over the rate of loss, those so predisposed might prefer to avoid transdermal testosterone.

I'm a 54 YO male with T levels consistently @200. Exercise 3 time per week doing full body with a day of rest in between. I'm about 5'11" 185lbs and have many of the common symptoms of low T - no morning wood (can't remember the last one), ED, low energy, no libido, increased fat, loss of muscle (despite workouts and a pretty good diet), mild depression etc. My PCP is willing to prescribe T but only gels or creams. He tells me he's gotten guys north of 1000 using these topicals. So, I'm interested to know your thoughts. I'm leaning towards a gel (Atrevis) but I have a concern about increased DHT. I'm a hair loss sufferer but I've done very well holding onto what I have and don't want to move backwards. Any ideas?
Get scrotul cream. Look up lifting dermatologist scrotul cream daw. It will tell you what type you need.

Scrotul cream works as good if not better than injectables. If applied to arms or stomach it won’t work as well because the skin on your scrotul absorbs differently. It also has alpha5 reductase converting more to DHT than e2.

Or better yet stop wasting your time with a doc whose scared of an injection and get a real trt doc.

You are probably going to have more issues down the line. He might not let you carry a high free t for symptom resolution due to this fear.

Run and find a pro brother

Very true. Creams and high DHT will cause hair loss to speed up.

He needs a legit doc. Wasting his time if he has to come here and make a decision.

I’m sure there are differences DHT wise among all sorts of T administration but if you’re prone per studies you will lose your hair. You just don’t see it. It’s not like you’re molting. It’s not obvious like that till you notice thinning and changes that are irreversible . If you’re not prone to hair loss the story changes. However, it’s relative as people age and hair changes unfortunately. I don’t suffer from male pattern baldness but my hair has changed nonetheless. I’m almost 59 YO and having a head full of hair makes me look younger. Speaking of TRT and the fountain of youth...

Yes DHT on transdermal is higher scrotul 3-5 x higher than injections. Injections the least amount of DHT is converted. This means more converts to e2 when DHT is less.

There can still be a big difference in relative DHT serum levels depending on the form of TRT. I have lab work when I was using Androgel with total testosterone at 160 ng/dL and DHT at 65 ng/dL. A couple months later on injections I had total testosterone at 1,250 and DHT at 50. Later still, on injections, I had total testosterone at 800 and DHT at 30.

Yes it fluctuates for sure and so does shbg so it’s hard to gain consistency. DHT rocks btw. Gives us that libido and Superman feeling. Feel good hormone.

Lol. I’m looking forward to that libido and Superman feeling indeed. I’ve heard a lot about the creams doing the best job so far. According to Jim Campbell, it’s now the way to go. Every day twice a day. Jim however, takes Cialis Daily too and only applies the scrotal cream once a day. Good bye to your Samson’s mane tho. He doesn’t use HCG either because he likes to bike and his balls get in the way... go figure

I get your point. It’s just a quicker way to lose your hair. Injecting will do the same but more slowly? Or not at all? I’ve heard and read it does speed up alopecia anyway.

Dr. Neal Rouzier stated that if the hair follicle is saturated with DHT already adding more will not make a difference. I would guess if your injecting causing larger spikes than gels you may have to donate blood more often than with gel. This would cause lower iron and that will cause you to lose hair. High stress and anxiety is not good for hair. So in the end it would be best to keep everything balanced where the mind and body can be happy.

Do you always speak out of ignorance and with a dash of bro science ?

DHT does not cause hair loss unless you are genetically prone to hair loss.

You shouldn’t talk about what you don’t know. You will spread false information and some poor soul might never try it based on your inability to speak accurately.

You’re doing the same. DHT and all is an old story anyway. BTW if I speak with ignorance according to you, your rudeness exceeds it. I guess TRT hasn’t calmed your nerves.
