BPH - Enlarged Prostate After being on TRT

I just figured it was all do to an enlarged prostate. I see the Urologist in 6 weeks and will hopefully start the Cialis in a few if they approve it. So I thought Id ask, I would just like to sleep for more than 2-3 hours in a row and nothing I have tried so far works.

Could be, but outside of the Vitamin D what other supplements vitamins are you taking and when do you take them, in the AM or evening?

My PSA was 2.1 in 1997 when I was 43 years old. The first time I went on TRT it rose to 2.28 then 2.78, before TRT this time it was 2.4-2.8, now it rose to 3.9 then 4.2. One difference is I had been taking DHEA and Pregnenolone to see if it helps my sleep. (I know you take both of those).

It didn't help sleep at all.
My PSA has held steady at 1.4, I'm hoping that's where it stays at. I really do like taking my DHEA and Pregnenolone before bed. When I took it in the morning, I never felt anything. I used to think it was a wasted supplement but now I'm happy I take it.

I take 5mg of Cialis daily, and started having some issues, but read something on Saw Palmetto. Started taking 160mg 2 x daily, and can't believe the difference. If for some reason I miss a day, it never fails around 5 o'clock when I try to urinate I have a hard time, and I get a burning sensation. Additionally, I'll wake up at night with the frequent need to pee. Now I always try to get it in around 1pm, & 11pm..

Over active bladder is one of my high E2 symptoms, it's very noticeable. I will get a weak split stream and have to go all the time. Get your E2 checked.

I actually just did and 20-47 is the range and mine is 50 pg/ml. My doctor will not do anything about it but lower my TRT dose... I go to see the urologist for the first time in a month. I dont know what to say to the doctor to get him to prescribe an aromitase inhibitor , if that would solve it. They freak him out and he says its too much liability. The endo he sent me to wouldnt do it either and he was no help ive learned more on here of what to check and pay attention to than from the endo so i stopped going to him. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am awaiting the insurance company's response if they will approve the Cialis that my doctor prescribed. could be another 10 days for that

It might be time to look for a different Dr. I'm on a very low dose of Adex, I take less than .25 every 4 days. Some people are more sensitive to Adex than others, it doesn't take much for me, I'm also sensitive to E2, if I'm above 40 on the sensitive test, I'm having issues and below 18 I'm having low E2 issues, it's difficult to dial in. It's something I had to do on my own with discounted labs. My Dr. basically prescribed it and said take 1 a day. What is your TRT protocol right now?

The problem is finding another doctor... I have had sooo many issues even finding this doctor. He will let me control my dose of Testosterone but I cant seem to convince him to prescribe arimidex. I have an appointment the 20th with him so I will be bringing it up again...

My current protocol is .35ml each time twice a week. (200 Test Cyp)

High amounts of natural vitamin E reduced my prolactin and estrogen levels, and reduced my prostate size. I took 3000 IU/day for about a month, 2000 IU/day for the second month. It dropped my prolactin from 18 to 4 in the first month, then down to i don’t care anymore during the second month.

Since he lets you control the dose yourself, you could try every other day. Maybe start with .15 or .18 eod? I was doing .18 eod, now I'm at .20 eod, on the other days I inject .25 of HCG. They say smaller more frequent doses keeps E2 lower because your test doesn't spike as high as it does with larger doses. The main reason I do eod is to help keep E2 down. What was your last testosterone level and when was it during you cycle?

I take 5000iu daily and its still that high

I will know within a day or two what my current Test levels are as I just had it done. I usually have it tested the morning of my first of the week before I do it as i do ti at night.

It's not at clear to me that Cialis actually Shrinks your prostate, it acts to improve urine flow. Helps with the symptoms.

Any evidence it shrinks your prostate?
You are overthinking this. What other possible mechanism of action could reduce the symptoms of BPH aside from shrinking the prostate? The enlarged prostate constricts the urethra. That constriction causes the weak urine stream and the frequent urges. The only way to relieve those symptoms is to shrink the prostate. What else could relieve the symptoms?

Alpha blockers: These drugs don't reduce the size of the prostate, but they are very effective at relieving symptoms. They work by relaxing the muscles around the prostate and bladder neck, so urine can flow more easily.

I was thinking Cialis most likely did the same sort of thing.

If that is true, the PSA score would not decline, an MRI would show no shrinkage, and if the prostate was still growing likey the problem will reoccur at some later point in time.

Yes, the normalization of the PSA is further evidence that cialis acts by shrinking the prostate.

I must have missed something, no one has said Cialis affects PSA in any way. Can you point it out, I am interesting in reducing my PSA score.

So far as I got it, Cialis is effective only in reducing symptoms.

My PSA made a dramatic jump last winter. I wasn’t really having bph symptoms. I noticed a mild slowing of my stream and it took longer to start urinating. DRE was normal but I ended up going to a urologist and he suggested cialis. My next labs showed my PSA dropped to below my pre TRT level. So I was consistently at 0.9 then went to 4.1. Took cialis and two months later PSA was 0.4.

I remember your thread on that.

I guess the problem I have is that when I look at any sort of study, they all say Cialis relieves symptoms and never say anything about lowering PSA or actually shrinking the prostate.

As you know, it would well be that your PSA score was going to decline regardless of anything you did.

For that matter, why in the world did your PSA score rise up so high and so quickly, did your urologist have an opinion about that? Did he want to do a biopsy? Did he estimate prostate size?

My PSA may decline a little, but it has been between 2.1-2.8 for 20 years, and five of those years I had been injecting nebido. It maybe went to from 2.1 > 2.8 during 5 years of TRT, but then declined to 2.4 for whatever reason. So I doubt it's going down by a lot.

I don't have symptoms, but the problem is Defy doesn't want to continue TRT until I get a clearance from an urologist, I am pretty sure this urologist will want to do a biopsy, which I am not in favor of. Kind of catch 22.
