Blood Test

The $29 Defy test looks good for T levels but there are about 25 other tests that generally need to be done. Whats the least expensive what to get a comprehensive blood test?

I would think you absolutely need TT and FT to possibly have your foot in the door for HRT (gatekeeper for primary or secondary Dx).

All other values should give your physician a good idea on how to tune your treatment plan.

To answer your question directly, checkout mymedlab.com and your HRT physician as they typically have discount plans setup with labs.

For clarity: I have been on TRT for 2 years including HCG, Anastozole, and Levothyroxine. I once had Anthem Insurance and they paid for the blood tests. I have a good doc and he ordered all of the blood tests posted here EXACTLY as I presented them to him. Anthem payed around $750 to Quest for these tests and it took 8 vials of blood. Now that I no longer have Anthem I am looking for the least expensive way to get a comprehensive blood test (as listed on this site) in order to monitor my levels on an ongoing basis.

Nelson: Are you comfortable with the tests listed for on going monitoring. My levels are pretty well dialed in. In other words, the tests would include everything I need?

If you are on TRT and your thyroid has been good in the past, I would not include LH and not go beyond TSH for thyroid. You could also save money by removing vitamin D and IGF-1 (most people are Vitamin D deficient and you should take at least 2000 IU per day of that vitamin anyways). TRT increases IGF-1 and I usually do not test mine (unless you are taking Sermorelin or a similar peptide). Call Defy Medical and see how much less it would cost by removing those tests. Please let us know.
