Anyone have any success with neurotransmitter support?

I think all of those neurotransmitter boosting supplements are total crap and a scam to sell expensive and non-validated tests by the "functional medicine" world.

I haven't had any do anything except for Maura purines , and it was brief and minor. Tried them all.
The trt "holiday" has to equal dopamine or higher test level receptor response and the fact that it isn't sustained would say the body adapts too fast to aim for "stable levels"

Nelson, exactly what are you characterizing as "nuerotransmitter boosting" ?

"nootropic" , "neuro-cognitive" yes lots of misrepresentation and it gets confusing. The benefit derived depends on one's overall individual need and their requirements at time of consumption. My personal health challenges are atypical of the general population. Supplements have most definitely and dramatically improved my quality of life. I'd like to take only what I need and in the minimum amount. Recent evidence suggests that we can lower incidence of Alzheimer and perhaps reverse it.

Yes, that is a comprehensive list and those are all great supplements that are well studied. My question refers to the notion that somehow neurotransmitter support would help regain lost libido on TRT as opposed to just being solid supplements for brain health... (again, for libido only, not for overall cognition improvement)

A huge leap here. Libido is complicated, aphrodisiacs elusive. Step one: Kill your tv. It's fast easy effective. Best of all it's absolutely free. I can visualize your libido getting a huge boost by joining one the social orders that visit homes to cleanse them of TV. Keeping your brain body and spirit healthy has got to be a prerequisite for Libido. Looking for more than an occasional transient boost in a bottle doesn't make sense.

Well possibly if trt is harming libido for some, nothing seems to overcome it , it seems.
Lots of studies and brief and don't go on for months so you don't hear "the results faded after x months".

There is an association of reduced libido to trt right? I grant you those with this symptom blame trt. It's possible. Where is the proof? How do we know its not TV? How many low libido sufferers have tried Killing TV?

Here is what we already know:
Fear reduces Libido
Anxiety reduces Libido
"The Message is Fear and Anxiety"
An unprecedented number of Americans are experiencing extreme fear and anxiety over a rigged game show starring two bozos
TV is always about the Message

Would you knowingly let a con artist, liar or thief in to your home?

Empower yourself then worry about low Libido if it's still there.

Tv?
I have started and stopped trt 2 times because after x months libidio dies off to worse than when I started.
Sorry but I watch maybe an hour of tv a month and its def not politics.
Libido going down or staying the same is very common, too many to know its not the trt.

TV? Thanks for the laugh. I have never owned a TV in my entire adult life and my libido disappeared years ago. My own n=1 study shows men without TV loose their libido at a much earlier age than men without. :)

What exactly is the process? How does trt allegedly stamp out Libido? ED, yes, that is easier to understand.
Are the sufferers urban? The Message is insidious... CNN, billboards, office chatter, monitors at banks and now fuel pumps. Choke it off, it's your only hope of escaping a massive campaign of disinformation. That's just the beginning.

Lower fertility is a fact even for those not on TRT. Statics on lower libido are much harder to come by. In any case chasing the dog with exogenous chemistry seems a folly to me.

I just finished reading a book called; "Habits of a Happy Brain" by Loretta Graziano Breuning, PHD.
I found it very interesting and insightful. I can't remember where it was recommended to me (maybe on this forum and if so I apologize for the redundancy).
It discusses what she calls the "Happy Chemicals", namely Serotonin, Dopamine, Oxytocin and Endorphin and how they affect us. It has allowed me to realize that there is no "happy" or "unhappy" continuous state that we can stay in, since all of these neurotransmitters are experienced in short bursts.
It is helpful for understanding why we feel the way we do in specific situations and has also made me realize that boosting any of these neurotransmitters can only provide a short-lived improvement (if any).

imho if libido is lower on trt then it is naturally with low t trt is not managed right
ofcourse the boost that you get when you introduce trt going from low t to high normal will not last long, its more of dopamine boost from higher t levels but thats normal for it to go away. some of libido and other trt benefits should stay with you.
when my trt is optimized i always had higher sex drive. with low t sex drive was pretty low. higher t will not necessarily make you a beast in the bad but should definitely make sex more desirable.
