The multiple wildfires in the West are causing a lot of smoke to linger. This has me blown up with allergy symptoms. My eyes are swollen, sinuses are a wreck, bronchial congestion and an overall crappy feeling. I was contemplating getting an allergy shot, but it appears that they aren't doing that as easily anymore. All of the OTC products make me groggy.

I have looked at immunotherapy shots, but that appears to be a long process before relief.

Anyone have any updated information?

I take immunotherapy drops, instead of shots. Drops are not FDA approved so insurance does not cover, but My ENT Doc says they're just as effective and you HAVE to go in for the shots. Even though us TRT guys are experts at it, they wont allow you to in case there is any anaphylaxis Still not feeling great, hopefully Ill feel better soon. Im about 2 months in and at my highest dose which is the maintenance dose.

Thanks for the info. I have an appointment with an allergist next week, so I'll mention it.

Yep... All allergy meds have a negative effect on me. I do take them as needed, but only when I REALLY need them.
Loratadine too?

Very interesting. Man I have a special place in my heart for cetirizine. Was having hives and horrible heartburn a while back. The hives is a no brainer but immunology went back and forth with me that cetirizine won't touch heartburn. It was excruciating and probably autoimmune related. That shit worked like a f'n champ. Bless you cetirizine. That heartburn made me want to jump from tall building a few times.

Oh, they work to alleviate allergy symptoms for certain. But they create their own symptoms (for me). Dries me up like I am dehydrated, makes me brain dead and tired, and... the worst, Ejaculation the next day after is impossible.

This is why I want to get tested for what it is that is causing the flare ups. They have different approaches now that are very tailored to a person's specific triggers. I was initially just wanting to get a Kenalog shot (triamcinolone) but was told they aren't doing those anymore. I just did a 5-day course of high dose prednisone that wiped it out (temporarily). I am learning some new stuff here...

I have an odd combination of allergic reactions that sometimes gets out of control and flares up to the point that I am down for the count. Contact dermatitis, rosacea and some weird type of immune dysfunction. I can go for years without an incident and then it just hits. We have a lot of smoke from all the wildfires here and that is what triggered it this last time.

Allegra... I have heard of it, but not tried it. I'll give it a shot. I started on Flonase a while back for an ear issue and that seems to help somewhat.
Sorry I don't roll with the brand names haha. Then you gotta pay 10x. 360 count of cetirizine used to be 10 bucks at Costco. Still have the same bottle from 2015.
