Oral Minoxidil for Hair Loss

Doctors are increasingly using oral minoxidil, traditionally a high blood pressure medication, as an off-label treatment for hair loss. Erika Murawski, who suffered from hair loss since high school, experienced significant improvement after being prescribed low-dose minoxidil pills, which differ from the topical application known as Rogaine. Success stories like hers have encouraged more doctors to prescribe oral minoxidil. Dr. Brett King, who treated Murawski, noted that while the treatment is effective, especially in early stages of hair loss, it is still primarily supported by anecdotal evidence and can cause side effects like fatigue, dizziness, and lowered blood pressure.

Has anyone tried oral minoxidil? I am starting it next week.

Update after 4 months of daily dosing:

Head hair; slight improvement but not by much.

Body hair: dramatic growth (unwanted)

I do not recommend oral minoxidil to women or men who are already hairy. Results on scalp hair were not worth it. Would it work better in younger men? Who knows!

I stopped it. My eyebrows, nose, ear, and genital hair have gone nuts.

Sorry to weigh in late on this thread, but what oral dose were you taking, Nelson? 5mg?
I'm wondering if those of us who have high bp and are already on diuretics for it could safely take a higher dose (while of course being on the lookout for edema, etc)

Same here. Using Rogained Foam in the morning and this product from Empower Pharmacy at night:
What's your thoughts/review on Hair Restore Ultra? Did you get any side effects from it? Are you concerned with the finasteride topical? I just am really scared of finasteride.
