Hi -
Not sure if this was posted before but this has provided me at least some much needed relief from low E2 symptoms that have persisted for years after E2 crash. Brief history
I have been on TRT since 2009 and never had an issue until I crashed my E2. (protocol 200mgs of test per week and 1mg AI every M,W,F.)
Crashed my E2 to undetectable levels on the sensitive test. 4/2019. Cause AI, clinic lowered my test dose and not my AI dose, thus causing me to crash my E2 levels after a few months on that new protocol, the protocol change was the clinics idea after explaining that i was feeling like crap for a while, they stated that brining my Test down should help.
Estrogen Levels rebounded but the majority of symptoms never went away.. In fact anything that can, could, and maybe be able to lower estrogen impacted me in every way and brought the low E2 symptoms raging back (caffeine pomegranate juice, broccoli just to name a few). When my E2 levels were less than 5pg/ml I had anxiety that would last for hours and Xanax, was the only thing that brought periods of relief. Slowly after the rebound the Anxiety went away but I was left horrible other symptoms that only got worse when I either added more or took my normal dose of Testosterone (200mg per week, injecting twice per week)l, because reading abut others who crashed their E2 all stated not to stop testosterone, and that your E2 levels would come up quicker, so I kept going. Over the next few years I worked with 2 new clinics and 2 Endocrinologists all of which were no help. Each Endocrinologists suggested that I was depressed and that the symptoms weren't even related to low E2, in which I replied ever heard of google, google low estrogen symptoms in men? Clinics again were no help. I have tried everything from micro dosing to large once a week dosing, nothing helped things only got worse. Clinic also stated my E2 was too high and had me add an AI again, you can see from the blood work below, nothing helped!! Symptoms were (I ranked them kinda in order bottoms ones being the most severe and only happened when my E2 was less than 5pg/ml. or my testosterone dose was to high)
Dehydration
Constipation
Skin changes; pale gray-looking skin / Extremely dry skin.
Brain fog / Activities took twice as long to complete.
Bloating / Gas
Metallic Taste in Mouth
GI Issues
Body odor changes
Loss of Drive / Pleasure
Indecisive / Unable to make decisions / Trouble concentrating
Weak / No strength
Testicular size changes (Tight to my body when symptoms are really bad)
Lack of trust for others; jealousy, that bears no relation to reality
Weight gain / Water retention / Bloated face
Body temperature changes, early evening would get very hot and red faced.
AM Sensitivity to cold temps. (Usually I run rather warm)
Eye fatigue (eyes seem more tired, dark circles) Floaters
Loss of vascularity
Loss of muscle definition
Decreased sexual libido /Sexual dysfunction / loss of erections.
Tingling in hands
Over sweating during activities / Not sweating
Insomnia
Nausea
Shaking / Trembling
Its like a Constant Tension within my body
Slow Healing
**E2 Levels less than 15pg/ml
Fatigue along the lines of sleepiness
Hypersomnia (sleeping too much and too often)
**E2 Levels less than 5pg/ml
Anxiety that would last all day
Here are my E2 blood test results.
Cut to this year after years of no help and I stopped using testosterone and my test levels dropped to
Testosterone Free 10.9 pg/ml
Testosterone Bio 18.2ng/dl
Testosterone Total 38ng/dl
Its to be noted that since the E2 crash my SHBG was been super low even when I added tomaxafin it never raised my SHBG levels above 7nmol/l (which I believe this my be part of my issue is that there is nothing to bind the hormones.).
So in addition to low E2 symptoms I now get the added bonus of low Testosterone. My life SUCKED.
So after reading that some have found relief by adding external estrogen, and I was on reddit and found this posting / article (attached). I tried a low dose of estradiol valerate 2mg per day and a few days later it was like a light switch flipped, and I felt better, so much that I restarted Testosterone at 10mg EOD + HCG ED, and was feel much better. Then I ran out and could not find anyone to "prescribe" estradiol valerate, TRT clinics said no they could not prescribe and Endocrinologists said they can't and don't even prescribe AI's. So I finally turned to some unconventional ways to order estradiol valerate, and it really seems to be helping. Also I found that hopps extract (700mg 3-4 time a day) also helped with symptoms, and vitamin C also helped when used in very large doses through the day.
Attached is the article, and please judge for your self as I am not a doctor or anything, just a unlucky asshole that crashed his E2 and the symptoms never went away until recently.
