B12 and libido

I will take the supplements you mentioned into consideration for sure. Thanks.
I'm not endorsing them, just mentioning the ones that I've read about. I've no experience with velvet bean or tongkat ali. Both l-citrulline and l-histidine made me quite irritable, as well as worsening my sleep. My opinion, if you decide to experiment, try one, only, and give it a few weeks.

I actually tried l-citrulline it does help in erection domain, not in libido or desire.
Libido and desire is my issue or what most guys on trt is.
Maybe magnesium would help also ? Not sure

I have strong desire but poor/erratic erectile function. Still sex on the brain most of the time. Though I've been taking magnesium and calcium for over a year, I don't know if it contributes to my libido. Vitamin D, which I take, increases dopamine, so that's a factor. I take 2 to 3 grams of vitamin C, daily, along with 2500 mg of pantothenic acid and they both, also, contribute. On the flip side, I've wondered about stopping all supplements and just run on testosterone and desiccated thyroid. I know there's a post/thread on here about reducing or stopping supplements. However, I find that, subjectively, the few supplements I take seem to be beneficial. I'm not reluctant to say maybe I'm wrong but been taking vitamins/minerals for 50 years. Yes, I'm biased towards them.

I take vitamin D also almost 10,000 daily. I read vitamin C should be taken from orange juice as other vitamin C supplements don’t provide your body with FULL vitamin C component “someone wrote this here”
I am adding magnesium and checking also some of the one you mentioned.

For your purposes, they are the same. I have never supplemented with folic acid (B9) because I read it might be associated with an increased risk of cancer. Vitamin B12 has always worked quite well for me by itself to lower homocysteine and other benefits. Do you really need to worry about folate if you’re eating a balanced diet of non-processed food? I doubt it.
I am reading more about folic acid,, if anything it reduces the risk of colon cancer . Do you have any studies or references for the increase cancer risk caused by folic acid ?

L-Methylfolate or folinic acid if there are methylation problems(and I'm still not clear on the methylation cycle) or mood problems. From my very basic understanding, some people poorly metabolize folic acid, either from food or from the supplement. I used the methylated form for bipolar and associated sleep issues. I seemed to respond, initially, then no longer. That's how it goes with me.

Reading more and more about B12 and folate and seems like there are studies that associate high intake of vitamin B12 and folate with increase risk of prostate cancer.

Based on this I guess I may lower my dose of B12 and be a bit carful with this.

Unless some of the experts here can say otherwise :)

Also worth mentioning I added today morning 4hrs ago folate 1,333 mcg DFE (800 mcg folic acid) and baaaaam libido went high.

Seems like histamine is the issue with my libido. as both of those have an affect on it

The question is how safe is it taking high dose of b12 and folate? I will asking dr.saya in my next meeting also about it.

Next I will lower both doses b12 and folate and see what happens.

Just wanted to share this, since the time I added b12 to my protocol and things got much better.
Current protocol
75mg once weekly sustanon
250-300 HCG EOD or E2D
FSH 75.

I have tried caber and many stuff which didn’t seems to help but up until now I am not letting this B12 go. It seems it’s increasing libido a lot,,, it is not a honeymoon period libido,,, yet it’s not bad like it use to be.
I don’t notice any effect on erection only libido. cialis is taking care of that part.
I am using a spray 12 or 16 times in one day. “Recommended is 4 spray below the tongue which =1200ug”

anyone had similar experience with B12 ?
Did you have any other symptoms of b12 deficiency?

My levels are 369 and I'm having some.

To further explain here...
My b12 is 369 from range 250-900. Folate was a little high above range 19 on range ending in 18 (can't remember bottom of range). These results were 3 days after not taking any vitamins. I have to repeat when actually taking them.

I've increased my methyl b12 through supplementation a little (from 225mcg to 300mcg), started eating 4 whole organic brown eggs in the morning again, and reduced methylfolate from 500mcg to 200mcg.

Sleep has gone from 0-3 hours to 8 hours (still broken though). Anxiety is a little better. I'm not sure if I had tinnitus before, but I definitely do now. Had morning wood 2 days in a row. Energy has always been fine. I get this strange air hunger symptom every so often, like I feel out of breath but even going to the ER in the past over it nothing was wrong. Definitely not anemic according to CBC.

I'm way too sensitive to methyl vitamins, so I'm hesitant to increase b12 anymore until I receive the hydroxycobalamin I ordered. I've been folate deficient in the past, and went through hell trying to get to stable symptoms about 4 years ago. This has been rough as well but I at least kind of know what to expect and try not to panic over some of these symptoms.

I will start to lower my b12 just in case.I used to take 5000mcg now will shift maybe to half maybe even less. I a sure now maybe I am above 650. It’s unfortunate how some papers point to a link between high folate and b12 and cancer.

Well, I wasn't suggesting to lower your dose. I would get some bloodwork first to confirm your levels, then adjust...if it were me. B12 deficiency is pretty bad and dangerous too from what I've been reading.

Any update here?

I seeing big improvements with those two supplements, I am using now homocysteine modulators from solgar and it does increase my libido even with its lower dose of b12.
It contain folate and b12 plus other stuff
I'm going to be adding a little extra hydroxycobalamin to get my b12 numbers higher. 250mcg to start, and if I react well, I'll double, etc. I don't like these b12 deficiency symptoms.

It’s a water soluble vitamin, so probably as frequently as possible would be best

But u don’t need to do b12 injections to get proper levels. Well most people don’t, especially men. Ur intrinsic factor in ur gut should be working just fine. So taking b12 orally should be able to get ur levels up.

Unlike most other vitamins, B12 is stored in substantial amounts, mainly in the liver, until it is needed by the body. If a person stops consuming the vitamin, the body’s stores of this B12 usually take about 3 to 5 years to exhaust. Too much B12 can cause side effects which can include diarrhea, itching, blood clots, numbness in the extremities, and severe allergic reactions.

I’m looking at the same supplement. I haven’t tested levels and am curious what kind of results I would get with adding this to my regimen.

Is there a “standard” recommended dosage for B12 and Folate for the average person. I could always use a little boost!
