Wellbutrin for Neuralgia

I am currently on the backside of having shingles for three weeks.
I've been left with Post Therapeutic Neuralgia and a Therapeutic Psudo hernia.
Pain is excruciating.
Doctor has prescribed Gabapentin at 200mg.
It doesn't do anything bit make me feel a little grumpy.
I've read where Wellbutrin has shown positive results for Neuralgia.
Has anyone tried this approach?
I am afraid that I may be stuck with the shingles after affects for a while to come and need to manage the pain.
Side note, I've been taking hydrocodone at night 5mg to get some sleep.
Had these for back pain but rarely used them.
Anyway I'm interested in the Wellbutrin for long term.

I had a case of shingles brought on by arginine and citrulline supplementation (they can activate the latent herpes virus and cause outbreak of cold sores and shingles). I was somewhat "lucky" because my outbreak was on my scalp so I think it was less painful there than it would have been in other places. The sharp stabbing pains lingered for awhile after the outbreak cleared up, but eventually went away. You might want to try Lyrica instead of gabapentin. Wellbutrin does have a numbing effect on me, but I can't say how much it helps with nerve pain. Both Lyrica and Wellbutrin will have some side effects that may vary. Hope you feel better soon.

10-4 Thanks.
I have some high end *** coming in soon.
Will try anything as I've never experienced pain like this before!
Lyrica may be a better choice as Pharmaceuticals go?
