Testosterone and Insomnia

Hey guys, my father has been on testosterone (compounded cream) 75 mg per day for 8 months and his doctor recently increased his dosage to 125 mg per day, and as a result he's been experiencing severe insomnia for the past week. Should he reduce the dosage or is this just an adjustment period where his body needs to get used to the new testosterone levels?

In older men, testosterone can be stimulatory. It can also increase sleep apnea. He should probably apply it in the morning and minimize his caffeine consumption after 3 pm and napping during the day.

I wonder if it is in part as basic as "because that is how we function naturally" - Testosterone levels decrease throughout the day and night and peak in the morning. When we administer at night, it is not consistent with normal function and confuses other systems??? Just a thought
