Brigham and Women's Hospital is conducting this study to research whether testosterone replacement therapy improves the quality of life for men who have undergone prostate removal for prostate cancer.

Overview

What we are studying

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of testosterone replacement therapy in men, who have undergone prostate removal for prostate cancer. Investigators are studying whether testosterone replacement therapy is beneficial and safe in improving sexual function, health-related quality of life, muscle mass, and muscle strength.

Why is it important

Men who have undergone prostate removal for prostate cancer often experience sexual dysfunction and low energy which are important contributors to quality of life. Testosterone replacement therapy may improve these symptoms in prostate cancer survivors, and ultimately, improve their quality of life.

What we hope to accomplish

The research hopes to determine the safety and efficacy of Testosterone replacement therapy in improving sexual function in men who have undergone radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. We will enroll prostate cancer survivors, who will receive either testosterone or a placebo and closely monitor their health throughout the study.
