"Age-related" testosterone deficiency, or age-related hypogonadism, is the term given when the underlying cause of testosterone deficiency is unknown.

There is a debate about whether or not "age-related" testosterone deficiency should be treated. There is no evidence, however, that "age-related" hypogonadism responds less well to testosterone therapy than "classical" hypogonadism (i.e. when there is a specific underlying condition).
