In this episode, we dive into Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a form of depression that many experience, particularly during the winter months. This condition can bring on low moods, irritability, fatigue, and changes in sleep or appetite due to decreased sunlight and shorter days. For those affected, SAD often leads to a feeling of "hibernation," where energy levels drop, and motivation wanes.

The consequences of SAD are not limited to mood; they can also extend to sexual health. Depression and fatigue can significantly impact libido, lowering sexual interest and activity. It’s common for men to experience a decline in libido or even erectile dysfunction as energy and mood diminish. Furthermore, SAD doesn’t just affect individuals—it can impact relationships too. Partners may notice changes in sexual routine or emotional responsiveness, and this shift can strain intimacy.

If you or someone you know is struggling with SAD, there are steps that can be taken to mitigate its impact, from light therapy and exercise to engaging in consistent routines and staying connected with others. For those who find that their sexual health is impacted, understanding and open communication with a partner or consulting with a specialist can help navigate these seasonal challenges.

I suffer from SAD, but no ED issues. I hate this time of year and the time change. I really wish they would just leave it on standard time and do away with DST.
