cialis failure

I was on 5 mg daily for a while and only had to take it occasionally. Now it doesn't work as effectively and i was given a prescription for 10 mg daily by Hims. I thought 5 mg was the only recommended daily dose? Has anyone been doing 10 mg for a while and has it helped?
