After my most recent round of bloodwork, I was curious where some longevity biomarkers were sitting, so I asked for follow-up tests. I had them done Monday and just got the results:
The key numbers — HCT is midrange and has not changed significantly (45.7-46.3); same for HGB (15.5-15.6); and...
@madman
My follow-up with my provider today went well. We are going to lower my dosage from 200mg/week to 180/week; switch from 2X/week injections to 3X/week; and aim to lower estrogen by increasing Danazol dosage. Further, I need to continue monitoring T3 and increase my caloric consumption...
That is correct. Having SHBG too high or too low is a problem. And indeed, high SHBG is correlated with lower FT. However, though my SHBG (72) is still quite high, it is not nearly what it once was (180+). Further, my Free T has climbed quite high, high enough to overcome the still-high SHBG, as...
I really appreciate the thoroughness of your perspective, and I am indeed rethinking my approach. The reason I mentioned pushing the dose is that my libido is still nowhere in sight -- I have a moderate desire to have sex maybe once every two weeks. Needless to say, this isn't great for my...
I would love to bump this to hear what folks think of these numbers ahead of my follow-up with my provider tomorrow. On another forum, someone said my levels are way too high and I’m basically running a cycle — not what I was hoping to hear!
I am hoping to find a protocol that’s suitable for...
My latest bloodwork results (after switching to injections and adding Danazol 6 weeks ago) are here, and they are – I believe – promising!
My Free T:Total T % is now 1.88%, a marked improvement from the previous 0.77%. That said, the numbers are quite high – but pushing them even higher may, I...
That's an excellent protein:calorie ratio! Have you tried any of their flavored products? I'm not interested in unflavored right now, though I have used it before.
Really? I love the chocolate! Though I had been on a run of 'weak' flavored proteins like unflavored and other natural options. So to me, this tastes like dessert :)
Are you mixing your coffee (hot) with the protein in a blender? How well does it mix up? I've found some work well, but others get way too frothy.
You could look into plant proteins such as hemp or Tera's goat whey - I've heard that is easy on the stomach for many individuals.
I have recently become a huge believer in True Nutrition cold-filtered whey isolate. It has the best combination I've found of price, taste, health (almost all natural), and gut impact (doesn't make me feel inflammed or gassy). I imagine I'll stick with this one for a long time.
How is the price, and how does the digestion compare to other wheys? I have noticed most whey products make me feel inflammed and gassy. I've only found a few products -- the more "natural" ones -- that don't upset my gut.
Fat-free cottage cheese is great. You can stir up some protein powder in there. I also like putting it on chocolate rice cakes, though that adds carbs. Delicious and nutritious.
Regarding protein bars, I'm big on Oatmegas. They have all natural ingredients and none of the 'fake stuff.' It's...
I don't think anyone likes it. I was a fat kid, which is what drove me into lifting, and even I hate 'skinny'! It's great that you're peaking now - so am I! No reason we can't continue improving for a long time.
Definitely. It's funny, though, when people call you 'skinny' or 'thin' - I don't know if you've experienced that - thinking it's a compliment. Fit, trim, lean, ripped, or shredded is so much better!
I was hanging around 16-18% (not tracking anything) for about 3 years. When I finally dropped down to 11%, the difference was night and day. I went from feeling like just another guy to 'the ripped guy' at the beach, and my confidence skyrocketed. My wife started making frequent comments about...
It's all a matter of priorities. You can be perfectly healthy at 15%. Personally, I still feel chubby at that BF%, which negatively affects my confidence. When I get down to 11ish, I feel unstoppable.
I am now working on cutting from 12-8%, with the aim of having clearly defined abs year-round...
As I see it, you have a few options:
1. The most obvious: decrease total calories
2. Increase movement (do more cardio or NEAT)
3. Increase protein (which has a more thermogenic effect than the other two macros)
I'd be interested in your results if you went with No. 3.
Ha! That could cause problems. I have read mixed things about eating before bed. It seems like some combination of carbs and protein should help sleep though, correct?
I am now 5 weeks into the protocol change (switching from cream to injections). So far, I have noticed a few things:
* I had serious sleep issues for the first 4 weeks of this transition. Really struggled to get adequate rest, despite careful pre-sleep routines including melatonin...
Update on this thread: I have no longer been having sleep issues. Nothing has really changed except that I am now 5 weeks into the protocol change (switching from cream to injections).
I have continued to have sleep issues since switching to injections about 5 weeks ago. I don't struggle to fall asleep, but often wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake for the day. That said, I have not lacked any energy. In fact, I've felt great all day, every day! One thing that...
More so that I'm staying with a colleague and don't care to explain why I have testosterone in the fridge. Not something I'm self-conscious about, obviously, but just a conversation I'd rather avoid.
