Since starting Test about a year ago my straight hair has started turning curly, especially at the front. As a kid I had totally straight hair and it got a little bit wavy with the years but since starting Test, it’s turned proper curly. My hair is still super thick and I have no thinning whatsoever at the crown. It’s just the dry, frizzy, brittle hair at the front that’s bugging me.

I use Minoxidil twice a day and topical finasteride mixed into Minoxidil 3x per week. No idea if that has any impact on my hair texture.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe it could be due to hair follicles miniaturizing and the hair getting thinner? Or maybe it’s from the Minoxidil drying the hair out?

My current hair regimen goes as follows:

Microneedling the temples at 0.75mm twice a month

Minoxidil twice daily in the temples and the front

Topical Finasteride (0.04%) 3x per week at the temples and front

Wash hair with 2% ketocozanole 2-3x per week

After every hair wash I use Coco & Eve Sweet Repair Hair Mask

I use Coco & Eve leave in conditioner every day after wetting my hair.

Same happened to me with TRT, went from completely straight to quite wavy, but I like it. I checked on this a couple of months ago and saw that hormonal changes can cause this, so TRT is the likely culprit.

Did you lose any hair along the way? Or is it just your hair texture that changed?

I started TRT when I was 25 and I had a perfect hairline back then. Within a year I lost some hair on the side and it has stayed like that for years now. It just seems like my hairline matured. In many cases you see guys starting to have a mature hairline at 22 and up, for some it happens earlier for some later. I definitely notice more hair falling out on a daily basis, but it's not too bad, I don't think it's hair loss. I also have pretty low DHT on TRT, which I'm now "supplementing", so we'll see in a year or so if I actually start developing baldness.

Did having low hormonal levels prevent my hairline from maturing?
Would my hairline have matured if I didn't start TRT?
Will I go bald now that I actually have proper DHT levels?

These are the questions I don't have answers to. However my symptoms were and to an extent still are pretty severe so I'd gladly trade my hair for full symptom relief.
