So I’m starting my first cycle of TRT and I will be injecting subcutaneously EOD.

I understand some people use insulin needles, I’m not super comfortable with the idea of drawing and injecting with the same needle.

I’ve been looking for 0.5ml lure lock needles but haven’t found any. I’m likely going to do 27G 1/2” for the stomach fat. I’ve found 1ml lure locks but I’d prefer the half ml for exact dosing purposes.

Can anyone provide some insight?

I just started TRT injections and pin daily by back-filling a 29g 1/2" insulin syringe. By using proper clean hygienic techniques, I find this method optimal since I don't like drawing and injecting with the same needle.

Cycling would be for someone abusing T/AAS for the sole purpose of gaining muscle/strength beyond or better yet well beyond one's natty genetic potential!

You know that chemically enhanced look that one could never achieve let alone maintain natty.

It's a dead end road in the long-run when it comes to possibly jeopardizing your long-term health let alone would be a lifelong commitment if you plan on sporting/maintaining that fake build!

We are using exogenous T to treat hypogonadism and improve our overall health/well-being!

The goal is to achieve a healthy trough FT level in order to achieve relief/improvement of low-T symptoms, minimize/avoid sides and more importantly maintain healthy blood markers long-term.

Key here being long-term!

Not sure what the fear is here when it comes to drawing/injecting using the same needle.

Should be virtually painless when drawing/injecting with the same needle 27-31G especially when using a higher gauge needle.

Yes drawing/injecting can be slower when using the higher gauge needles but it is nothing to fret over and if you are drawing/injecting low volumes of the oily solution it should be quick.

Most in the know on TTh are using an LDS insulin syringe whether 1 ml (100 unit), .5 mL (50 unit) or .3mL (30 unit) with fixed needle length (6MM, 8MM, 12.7MM) when injecting strictly sub-q or 12.7MM when injecting shallow IM.

One of the main advantages of using an LDS insulin syringe for testosterone therapy is that there will be minimal waste of medication due to low-dead space let alone you can draw/inject using the same needle (fixed).

Numerous benefits of using an LDS insulin syringe (fixed needle) as injections are virtually pain-free, minimal trauma to the tissue, minimizing any waste of medication, easier for many to measure accurate doses when injecting lower volumes, and you can draw/inject using the same needle to boot.

“Fixed insulin type syringes have no void space at the point where the needle joins the syringe, and so are known as Low Dead Space Syringes, which is sometimes abbreviated in the literature to LDSS. They are made like this so that the full accurate dose is delivered, and there is no waste

If you are dead set on such and you are willing to up the $$$ you can try the MinimLL™ Syringes.

Would not waste your time purchasing their TSK Low Dead Space Needles as you would be paying out the ass here!

*Both Luer Lock and Luer Slip syringes comply with the same family of ISO standards. ISO 80369 guarantees that one manufacturer’s syringe can be used with another manufacturer’s needle. The “cone” shape and 6% taper of the Luer are standardized within tolerances. Luer Lock syringes also have specific thread pitch and size parameters.

*ISO standards also govern needle hubs. Standard hypodermic needles fit Luer Slip and Luer Lock syringes.

MinimLL™ Syringes are the original 0.5mL Low Dead Space Luer Lock Syringes. The low dead space (LDS) feature minimizes loss of material, and can be combined with low dead space needles for additional product savings. In addition to helping reduce needle pop-off, the luer lock mechanism allows for the exchange of needle (such as using a large gauge needle for draw-up and a fine gauge for injection). MinimLL™ syringe barrels and plungers are manufactured from Polypropylene, which has a long history of use in various medical devices and is considered a safe vessel for most uses; with a polyisoprene rubber tip. As a part of Air-Tite's line of pink products, we donate a portion of sales to breast cancer research and awareness programs. Use with TSK Low Dead Space Needles for maximum product savings!

ISO Standards: Luer Lock vs. Luer Slip

Luer Lock and Luer Slip syringes both conform to multiple ISO standards, including ISO 80369—Small-Bore Connectors. The Luer fitting ensures compatibility between any ISO syringe and any ISO needle (or other attachments, such as tubing and valves).

Both Luer Lock and Luer Slip syringes comply with the same family of ISO standards. ISO 80369 guarantees that one manufacturer’s syringe can be used with another manufacturer’s needle. The “cone” shape and 6% taper of the Luer are standardized within tolerances. Luer Lock
syringes also have specific thread pitch and size parameters.

ISO 80369 covers several features:

Luer Slip

  • Length of taper
  • Tip diameter (inside and outside)
  • Tip radius

Luer Lock

Same as Luer Slip, plus:
  • Angle, pitch, and width of the internal thread
  • Length and diameter of thread collar
  • Projection of the tip from the thread collar

It’s worth noting that ISO standards are revised every few years to ensure optimal performance.

How to Order a Luer Lock Compatible Needle

ISO standards also govern needle hubs. Standard hypodermic needles fit Luer Slip and Luer Lock syringes.

Standardized fittings also apply to “Luer” connections for tubing, catheter connections, stopcocks, adaptors, and compounding adaptors.

As a general rule, all of our hypodermic-style needle hubs work on all Luer Lock and Luer Slip syringe tips.

I've noticed that the needle tip bends slightly when drawing so the injections can be harsh.
Really? Thanks for your reply. Is this a Rx pharma vial or UGL. I go in slow at 90 degrees and don't think I've ever encountered bending with 29g.

It is true the needle gets duller with drawing and injecting but go in fast on the injection and I really can't tell the difference vs fresh needle.

Good luck with your journey.

I inject testosterone cypionate twice a week using .5ml 31g insulin syringes with 1/4” needles. I don’t have any problem with it. I’ve done it for about 12 years. It takes a bit of patience to fill the syringe but it’s not an issue. I just pull the plunger back and leave the vial and syringe laying at a 45° angle in my underwear drawer and come back in a few minutes.

Why do you hesitate to draw and inject with the same needle?

I use a 31g 1/4” needle on my insulin syringes so even if the tip of the needle were dulled by penetrating the vial it still doesn’t hurt to inject. Usually I hardly feel anything at all.

Thanks! I just ordered some 31g 5/16” and now good-to-go.

I finally settled on 31g 5/16” for hcg, and 28g 1/2” for testosterone- both subq. No issues with dull needles.

The 31g is sometimes hard to pull out of the skin though.

29 g insulin pin here. Almost no waste.

Why?
The insulin syringes are so thin that once you poke the rubber stopper to draw the medication, it dulls/damages the perfectly sharpened needle. I’ve experimented with using the same needle to draw and inject, it does pinch a bit more. There’s also sanitary reasons related to drawing and pinning with the same needle.

Insulin syringes are designed to draw and inject insulin so I don’t see a problem doing the same with testosterone.

Beyond Testosterone Book by Nelson Vergel
You noted when you draw with a slim pin that it bends. If that is the case, you are doing it incorrectly. Not knocking you at all sir, just trying to help and offer some things I've learned. I've been there only a couple years ago as well. So much information. So much MIS-information. So many different needles and styles and gauges. It can be daunting when starting out.

I hope you might try using a 29 or 30 gauge insulin needle 1/2 inch or even 5/16 at least one or 2 more times. Drawing and pinning with the same slim pin is so simple and clean and easy and hardly ever hurts sure a pin pain sting now and then but you get used to it. You're taking hormones now time to put the big boy pants on! Ha! :) OK on to some pointers...

Once you poke the needle into your vial, flip and twist it every so lightly using your other hand as a gentle guide supporting the vial, thus keeping the needle from having pressure on it and bending. It may take some practice but just keep using the same one and do it a few times (or grab a new one if your concerned with dulling). There's great videos all over the tube and web on it as well they can be very helpful when starting out! Don't be too scared it will all work out and you will figure out what works for you in time. But I do hope you don't give up on draw and pin with same slim pin just yet!
