Statin withdrawls?

Had a recent dr visit and in discussing blood work my cholesteral has been running on the low side since starting trt a year ago. About 6 months ago lowered statin dose to 10mg from 20mg. I have been on some form of a statin drug since about 2009 when my gp at the time suggested it when my total cholesteral was in the 220 range. Now its around 130 or so and my current dr is not a fan of using any statins.
I read a thread on here recently about statins and erections and someone posted a link written about the dangers of statins which was really informative and interesting. I have to really think about it but can pinpoint times with muscle pains and unexplained cramping and pulled muscles. Im very active so I would play off the pains but it always stuck in my mind. All that being said, this past friday after talking with dr, I stopped taking my statin and now I absolutly feel like shit.

Bloating, slight head aches, preasure in head and some dizziness kind of feeling like a bad hangover and tottally lethargic Where I want to fall asleep with no energy.

None of these feelings are familiar to me as I was feeling great before stopping the statin. I googled it and a couple sites talk of side effects but not withdrawls and wondering if there really is such a thing or am I just catching a bug.....coincidences? I ve heard of such things but dont necessarily believe in them.

bigfred, there are no withdrawals from stopping statins but your C-reactive protein (CRP) and LDL will increase.

I took myself off of Simvastatin at the beginning of this month when I figured out when was causing me severe health problems. I started taking 20mg of Simvastatin last September and my strength, stamina, endurance went downhill pretty fast. My muscles were tight and painful sometimes. This was not from working out. If I did anything physical, it would make it worse. The pain eventually became more of a constant thing. I was weak as hell. I also got off of Lisinopril at the same time. It killed my stamina and I just got gradually weaker and my endurance/stamina was in a steady decline. Before I started the statin, my total cholesterol was only 212mg/dL.
There are a things that I did upon learning about the side effects. I started taking 100mg of ubiquinol among other supplements. This is the biologically active, reduced form of CoQ10.
Read up on statins. I recommend two sites to start with:
http://www.spacedoc.com/index.php
https://www.statineffects.com/info/index.htm

Forgot to mention. It effected my memory and I am still having problems with it every now and then. It effected my hormones too. Look up cholesterol and see why it is very important for our health.

Hope this helps.

Fifteen years of being on statins put me into Pre-Diabetes and metabolic syndrome. It took my blood sugar A1C to 6.4. I decided to do my own research, told my Doc I will no longer take statins. Come to find out "High Cholesterol" is not the cardiovascular risk the way it was advertised. To battle my statins induced blood sugar problem, I sought out a different remedy. The remedy was TRT. I found Nelson's video on line.......watched it over and over. Went to my GP Doc for additional guidance.......no help. Then I scoured this site and the forums for several months......made contact with Defy and Dr. Saya. After just 6 weeks on TRT, my A1C blood sugar dropped from 6.4 to 6.0. Keep in mind the A1C is a 90 day measurement of your blood sugar.......so the NP at Defy explained we expect your blood sugar to continue to drop drastically during the next 3 months while on the therapy. After 12 weeks of TRT, my waist has reduced two belt notches while my body weight has gone up from about 218lbs in January, to now just about 230lbs. TRT has been awesome for me. I'm 53 years old........I owe a ton of thanks on here to folks I don't even know and they don't me. Nelson Vergel, Gene Devine, Chris Vetter, Vince and Jasen Bruce. You guys don't even know me, but I've been reading and following the good advice on here for a couple of months and I'm so thankful for what's happening with my health and fitness. So thanks guys on Excel Male.

Statins and Cholestrol Re-send

For you guys out there who are concerned about your "cholesterol number"........I beg you to please watch this 12 min video on Statins and Cholesterol. It is worth the 12 mins to watch......especially if you've been taking statins for a long time. I also tried to paste other videos below that I had saved earlier this year when I conducted my research on statins and cholesterol.......the research told me high cholesterol is not a health risk that needs treatment and statins are extremely dangerous. They lead to diabetes. Please take the 12 mins to at least watch the first video posted below

Satin drugs are the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on mankind. The harm they have done is beyond belief. I could go on but you get the point.

This is very, very good information - Thank you for sharing!

I had an older co-worker that went on statins and within a few months his memory got so bad that he literally retired early. He would forget a conversation he had with you the day before. Previously he was always very sharp and a high-achiever at work.

Beyond Testosterone Book by Nelson Vergel
Went back to my gp last week for annual check up and told him I had stopped statin and gave a list of reasons why. He said he didnt agree with me and gave me his reasons but to his credit said something along lines of he can just suggest and I have to decide. Got my bw back and my LDL did spike to 130 from 62 with the normal range topping at 99, total choles went from 130 to 208. Im still not going back on a statin after reading everything but just started adding niacin to my daily routine. The only one im concerned about is LDL not total at this point but everything I have read said that the numbers would spike when you initially stop taking the med.
Just started niacin so I am currently working up to 2000mg a day as recommending on a few different blogs and from info I have read. Will take about a month to get to that level because of the niacin flush, but honestly the flush and tingling feels kind of exhilarating as I know what it is as blood vessels open up so I dont mind it as it lasts about a half hour.
Will retest cholesteral in about 6 months to see where its at but no desire to return to a statin .

Alittle off topic but along these lines, my bw came back great in every area with the exception of cholesteral including PSA at .4 which I always wonder about being on TRT as my DHT is always very high and liver which both ast and alt were in low 20's. Pretty excited about that as I have had issues in past from long term anti inflamitory use and pain meds from some past work related injuries where the liver was very elevated. Was worried that the statins may have spiked those also but didnt.
